Position Summary The Director of Compliance and Ethics is a seasoned leader with the breadth of skills to lead day to day challenges of integrating compliance and ethics into our culture, operations, research, and in the programs that the Public Health Institute (PHI) supports. The position will work closely with internal teams and leaders across all functional areas of the organization to strengthen our current Compliance and Ethics Program (CEP). The Director will liaison with the General Counsel and will also coordinate closely with the Institute's external Senior Compliance and Ethics Advisor. The Director will report administratively to the President & CEO, with a direct functional reporting line to the Audit and Compliance Committee of the Board of Directors. The Director will lead the internal Compliance and Ethics Committee to regularly review operational and/or program risks to the organization. The position will coordinate the implementation of policies and procedures essential to a robust CEP for PHI. While the Director will not be the ultimate owner or implementer of all policies identified, they are responsible for identifying any compliance gaps and ensuring that relevant departments are taking the proper steps to address relevant rules or requirements. The position, in collaboration with PHI's executive leadership, is responsible for supporting the tone, code of conduct, and practice of compliance throughout the organization. The Director of Compliance & Ethics will work diligently to prevent, detect, and deter misconduct in partnership with PHI leaders. They will contribute to the development of sound internal controls and monitor adherence to them. This is a remote, regular full-time position. Candidates in the United States are welcome to apply and will be considered, but candidates based in California are preferred. The incumbent is required to work during the core business hours for the Pacific Time zone. Occasional travel to attend in-person conferences/meetings or participate in other activities in and outside California is required. Full salary range for this position: $144,278 to $225,289 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $144,278 (minimum) to $184,784 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE.
