JOB PURPOSE:

Responsible for directing the fiscal functions of the corporation in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) issued by the Financial Accounting Standards Board, the Internal Revenue Service, other regulatory and advisory organizations and in accordance with financial management techniques and practices appropriate within the pharmaceutical industry

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage and oversee finance and accounting team as well as members of other business operations groups (Fleet and IT)
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance
  • Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies and regulatory action
  • Offer strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization
  • Be an advisor from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the corporation may enter
  • Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting their budgets
  • Provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
  • Optimize the handling of bank and deposit relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash position
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and financial trends to assist the other senior executives in performing their responsibilities
  • Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism which includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
  • Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals
  • Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation
  • Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows
  • Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company's performance
  • Works with external auditors and provides needed information to successfully complete required audits
  • Files quarterly and annual reports
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business discipline
  • CPA or CMA Required
  • 3+ years of people management experience
  • 10+ years accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
  • Exemplary history of financial project management
  • Thorough understanding of accounting, bookkeeping and financial management information requirements
  • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Vital accuracy and organizational skills are needed
