POSITION SCOPE

The Field Mechanic is responsible for performing preventative and emergency maintenance of repairs and maintaining company vehicles, material delivery trucks, along with other vehicles and heavy equipment related to industry. Travel is required.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Performs diesel and gasoline engine repairs and maintenance
  • Diagnoses and performs power train component repairs and maintenance
  • Troubleshoots and performs hydraulic system repairs and maintenance
  • Diagnoses and repairs truck air brake systems problems
  • Repairs suspension and steering systems
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical systems
  • Performs specialized component repair such as hydraulic and mechanical drives
  • Make minor repairs including welding and cutting
  • Must have knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety orders, including safety precautions on raised truck beds, brakes, mixer lockouts, etc.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and keeps accurate company records and completes work orders on equipment
  • Operates individually and within a team environment
  • Works overtime and weekends as needed
  • Works multiple shifts as needed
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations, and with company policies and procedures; perform daily equipment inspections, as well as identify and assist in correcting unsafe conditions
  • Be familiar with Caterpillar and Volvo Equipment
  • Welding as needed
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



REQUIREMENTS



  • Prefer high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Commercial driver's license (Class A or B)
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean DMV
  • Prior construction experience preferred
  • Must be able to write legibly to complete work orders and other required paperwork
  • Must be able to read and comprehend maintenance manuals
  • Highly dependable, ability to work in fast paced environment
  • Experience with welding
  • Experience with hydraulics and electrical
  • Ability to complete work tasks under various adverse weather conditions including heat in higher than 100 degrees, cold, rain, and snow
  • Travel is required
