SUMMARY Responsible for assisting in the ensuring the safety, quality and productivity problems by evaluating, executing and continuous follow-up. Part of a team whose responsibility is to continually increase reliability and efficiency of production processes and equipment with a specific focus in mechanical rotating equipment field craft work. Responsible for the evaluation of the job site for safety, obtain the appropriate permits, reserve proper parts and tools for job and thorough execution of work orders in an efficient manner ensuring safety for all. Must be able to perform general maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on typical industrial mechanical rotating equipment such as pumps, blowers, fans, compressors, gearboxes, turbines, mixers, extruders, rotary feeders, etc. as well as basic components such as bearings, couplings, seals, belt drives, etc. Needs to have familiarity with lubrication methods, alignment/balancing procedures, and vibration analysis, and pneumatic/hydraulic systems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES May include, but are not limited to, the following: 1.Evaluation
- Evaluate the job site to make sure it is safe for the craftsperson and team members
- Determine, prior to beginning the work, that appropriate permits and precautions are in place and all requirements are met
- Determine if the proper parts have been reserved for the job described in the Work Order
- Determine if all necessary support is available to complete the Work Order
- Determine what tools are required to complete the job as described
2. Execution
- Perform the work required in the Work Order in a manner that ensures the safety and efficiency of all involved
- Perform the work required at an acceptable fast pace to assure high productivity
- Perform the required work correctly the first time
- Clean area after work has been completed
- Properly document the cause of the failure based on the observations made during the repair and based upon the experience of the craftsperson and others involved
3.Follow up
- Review completed job briefly with Mechanical Supervisor to assure accurate information regarding the failure(s) is entered into the equipment history database and that job has been completed as required in Work Order
- Review with the Planner and/or the Maintenance Supervisor the reasons for any variances exceeding the predetermined criteria (NOTE: This is for the purpose of identifying and solving problems, not for finding fault)
- Express opinions about how this job might have been done faster, better and/or at less cost
- Discuss any additional training need identified
4.Communication
- Works with all others to develop communication and a Team Environment

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- A current, valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is required.
- Position requires a high school degree.
- Must have 5+ years in petrochemical plant maintenance experience
- Must be able to read and understand P&I drawings
- Must be willing to work overtime, shift schedules and assist other craft discipline in performing a repair task. The ability to operate mobile equipment is a plus (manlift, drott, forklift)

WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate inside, but can be high outside. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Inside exposure includes but not limited to A/C 90% of the time. Outside exposure includes but not limited to outside elements 10% of the time. May be exposed to finished carpet, tile/linoleum and/or outside concrete or gravel. Job may require working in both closed and open quarters.
