SUMMARY

Assist department management in direction and coordination of the Mold Base department's functions of evaluating and performing maintenance, assign projects and repair of complex mold bases tooling and equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Set an example and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures. Follow and adhere to all PPE requirements.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ensure all daily and periodic safety checks are performed and all documentation is completed.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of molds and provide recommendations to design department.
  • Provide guidance and direction to shop personnel for day-to-day activities.
  • Assign work to shop employees based on production schedules.
  • Create work orders for replacement parts and repairs done by the machine shop.
  • Create purchase requests for replacement parts and maintain sufficient stock of spare components.
  • Attend design meetings and provide input for new tooling designs.
  • Mentor and train mold base repair employees.
  • Supports Company goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence at strategic and tactical levels including reviewing opportunities for improvement or communicating ideas to management, as well as active participation on project teams.
  • Performs any additional responsibilities or tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Related Trade School certification preferred.
  • 8 years' experience in Tool and Die with plastic injection molds required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite required, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Must meet all criteria of Mold Maker level A.
  • Ability to research/resolve problems or issues in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently to resolve issues or problems on a day-to-day basis
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in a corporate environment
  • Ability to obtain a forklift license and overhead crane operation certificate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually high, as normal for a manufacturing plant. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, fall protection, hard hats, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements, grease, coolants, metal and aluminum shavings, grinder dust, etc. and may require usage of ladders, stairs, and elevators.
