Position Highlights |
We are seeking a dynamic Director for the Office of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (OEDI), and the Pathway Scholars Program (PSP). In this role, you will Direct and ensure the operational achievement of all goals and tactics articulated in the OEDI Five-Year Strategic Plan, Inclusive Excellence in Healthcare, and PSP; make recommendations for adjustments and other operational changes to effectively meet goals within established time-frames. You will manage and oversee recruitment initiatives and curricular delivery to students, by providing guidance and support to the PSP team and OEDI with advanced directives and projects.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Directs Pipeline Program efforts for students underrepresented in medicine.
- Leads and supports the development of both long-term and short-term strategic goals.
- Prepares PSP quarterly and annual reports for Curriculum Committee, Strategic Planning, and Development.
- In conjunction with the Sr. Associate Dean, OEDI, Co-directs the Intro to Medical Studies block for incoming cohort members.
- Manages Pipeline development and ensures access to necessary resources.
- Develops, maintains, and implements department policies and procedures.
- Serves as a representative of the department and/or University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
- Serve as primary liaison strategically coordinating between the community, students, faculty, and staff to facilitate the successful delivery of university programs.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates department programs and projects.
- Management of program and initiative data collection for reporting purposes including LCME reports, college reports.
- Build relationships with multiple departments across both the college, university, and hospital partners to facilitate strategic goal achievement.
- Create and manage a budget for OEDI/PSP planned activities, programs, and initiatives for each fiscal year and ensure compliance with University finance standards in collaboration with Sr. Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
- Primary financial representative for the program, managing contracts, reimbursements, and large purchases for the program.
- Supervises the preparation of financial and administrative reports; Predicts resource needs and develops long range plans through analyzing and interpreting statistics, financial data, and management planning data.
- Oversees and facilitates planning, developing, and administering department budget, including preparing annual budget.
- Oversee the collaboration with the Financial Aid department to ensure funding is applied to student accounts and deadlines/tasks are communicated to the cohort.
- Initiate grant applications as available.
- Assists in the development of grant submissions for pipeline programs or other special initiatives requiring extramural funding.
- Directs and supervises major events such as: HealthWeek, Inclusive Excellence Speaker Series, regional conferences
- Prepare annual report demonstrating the accomplishments of OEDI efforts.
- Lead Black Men in White Coat Youth Summit work-group.
- Direct marketing and communications strategy for OEDI and PSP including dissemination of monthly newsletter, website management and other communications that are broadcast in the COM-P news.
- Oversees Fellowship and Mentoring (FAM) program for students.
- Direct and guide the execution of a regular college diversity engagement survey, ensuring timely and effective implementation.
- Manage staff completion of the required QPR Suicide Prevention and Mental Health First Aid Trainings.
- Schedule and conduct regular OEDI staff meetings.
- Hire, onboard, manage, evaluate, support, and encourage the PSP and OEDI direct reports.
- Develops relationships for Clinical Practicum preceptorships and oversee scheduling of opportunities for students.
- Lead and manage the communication between the University Graduate College and key stakeholders, overseeing the GradPath and GradApp processes for both current and incoming students.
- Collaborates with UA Graduate College to ensure the program is meeting requirements as set by the Graduate College.
- Develops objectives, and activities based on department goals.
- Attend meetings, events and activities in place of the Sr. Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion in their absence as needed.
- Manage and operate the AMP admissions platform in collaboration with the Office of Admissions.
- Manage staff escalations of concerns or needs.
- Oversee recruitment cycle and big-picture curriculum delivery.
- Direct outreach, recruitment, and retention strategies to increase diversity of students, staff, residents, postdocs and faculty.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, including listening, collaboration and team building that facilitates creative thinking, cooperation and rapport building with various levels of faculty, staff and students.
- Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with constituents across a diversity of identity dimensions with both courage and humility; strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to establish rapport and work cooperatively.
- A broad understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion and demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituents.
- Strong financial, communication and presentation skills.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Five (5) years of related work experience, including two (2) years of managerial experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
* Master's degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as education, public health, social work, public policy, law, or a discipline related to the advisor's area of specialization.
* Deep knowledge of specific areas relevant to PSP and OEDI work. |
