Position Highlights |
The College of Nursing at the University of Arizona is currently seeking a Certified Nurse-Midwife to be the Specialty Coordinator and lead the Nurse-Midwifery (NM) specialty in the DNP Program. The NM Specialty Coordinator reports to the DNP Director. Rooted in the rich history of midwifery, our mission is to educate the next generation of midwives, to improve access to care for all by supporting communities to achieve reproductive health equity. Duties & Responsibilities |
Curriculum
- Leads the Nurse-Midwifery DNP program specialty curriculum to ensure all accreditation standards and requirements are met.
- Implement innovative teaching and simulated learning experiences in the NM specialty within available resources.
- Actively participates in the DNP Program Curriculum and Instructional Support Committee (DNP-CISC) and Specialty Coordinators meetings.
Admissions and Advising
- Coordinates the NM holistic admission process with the DNP Program Director and the Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs.
- Assigns NM students to faculty advisors.
- Monitors NM students' progression to support academic success and graduation.
Student Clinical Placements:
- Maintains and grows cooperative relationships with practice leaders at clinical experiential learning sites.
- Coordinates with the Office of Clinical Operations to ensure all students have appropriate clinical placements.
- Monitors NM student clinical hours, progression, and compliance with clinical requirements on a weekly ongoing basis.
- Assigns students to Clinical Supervising Faculty (CSF) and may serve as CSF for students in nurse-midwifery clinical rotations.
Teaching:
- Teaches courses in the DNP program within the scope of expertise.
- Supervises DNP projects and serves on DNP project committees, creating a learning environment that facilitates student learning and achievement of expected program outcomes.
Scholarship:
- Maintains academic excellence through clinical and educational scholarship.
- Disseminates scholarly work at professional conferences and through publications.
- Participates in teams to obtain funding to support student education and training.
Service:
- Engages with all relevant stakeholders to further the mission and goals of the College of Nursing.
- Participates in College of Nursing governance activities.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Hold a doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., DNP, EdD).
- A Nursing degree with an Nurse-Midwifery specialty.
- Three
(3) years of nurse-midwife practice experience. - Hold national certification from
AMCB as a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM). - Unencumbered Arizona RN and APRN license.
- Evidence
of eligibility and an Arizona RN/CNM license prior to the first day of employment with the College of Nursing. - Compliance
with immunizations, CPR, and other College clinical requirements.
