Position Highlights

The Healthcare Technology Innovation Lab is searching for a Research Technologist to support the operation of new Healthcare Technology Innovation Lab - Sensors Lab, with flexible spaces configured for a variety of projects, including XR studies, wearable sensor development, closed-loop sensing studies, and group dynamics studies. The Research Technologist will be responsible to provide technical and scientific assistance to researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in sensor selection, usage and data analysis and in programming applications. They will also provide support for researchers in usage of sensor software, and assist in the planning and design of experiments and interventions using variety of sensors. Additionally, the Research Technologist will work with the Sensor Lab team to create/update existing code to implement the sensor interfaces and data analysis pipeline platform, conduct sensor testing and integration with existing systems, while collecting scientific data using computer networks and other advanced data transmission features.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Create/update existing code to implement the sensor interfaces and data analysis pipeline platform.
  • Work in collaboration with the team and independently to create code to extract and analyze data coming from participants interactions with the target applications, including extraction of features of interest (affective, cognitive, and social).
  • Assist in maintaining and supervising the use of computer workstations, data archiving, and report issues with the computer networks for the lab.
  • Provide assistance to researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows in sensor selection, usage and data analysis and in programming applications. Also, provide support for researchers in usage of sensor software.
  • Participate in meetings with the Laboratory Coordinator, Strategic Plan Leaders as well as project meetings with other participants.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different groups/individuals.
  • Knowledge of applications and usage of wearable sensors applied to healthcare.
  • Knowledge in at least one of the following computer programing languages: Python, R, C++.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
