The Revenue Cycle Coordinator is responsible for a broad range of duties which support the day to day operations of the RCM ancillary support department. The employee will work closely with the RCM
Ancillary Services management team to identify and implement time and cost saving measures. The employee will observe company policies and all applicable laws and regulations as they relate to the job requirements, and have the ability to prioritize, problem solve, and multitask. Responsibilities
Ensures daily accomplishments by working towards individual and company goals for cash collections,
credit balances, medical records, correspondence, appeals/disputes, accounts receivable over 90
days, and other departmental goals
- Understands and adheres to all applicable state/federal regulations, company policies, insurance contracts in terms of medical policies, payments, patient financial responsibility, credit balances, and refunds
- Coordinates the processing of refund checks with Amerita's and PharMerica's accounts payable departments to include voided, reissue, and escheatment checks
- Prepares patient refund packets
- Reviews credit balance adjustments, submits overpayment notification letters, and contacts payers following Amerita's payer notification process
- Contacts payers to validate receipt of submitted documentation and documents outcomes in CPR+
- Assists with the processing of medical records requests. Compiles medical documents and secures missing information as needed
- Submits medical records, giving priority to electronic solutions
- Maintains CPR+ Document & Fax Management systems to include faxing, scanning, and attaching documents
- Receives, stamps, compiles, and distributes incoming mail
- Prepares outgoing mail to ensure correct postage and shipping entity is utilized
- Responsible for tracking postage meter use and loading postage onto postal machine
- Transports USPS & Fed Ex shipments to local facilities
- Ensures supplies are stocked for RCM employee use to include: cabinets, Xerox machines, HP printers, kitchen, and bathroom areas
- Completes weekly inventory of RCM supplies and submits orders to the appropriate vendors
- Receives and unpacks incoming orders
- Ensures receipt of all items and/or addresses missing items or returns with vendors
- Retains packing slips for retention purposes
Serves as primary back up for the RCM Administrative Services Specialist in times of absence
Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent required; some college a plus.
- A minimum of one to two (1-2) years of experience in revenue cycle management with a working knowledge of Managed Care, Commercial, Government, Medicare, and Medicaid reimbursement
- Working knowledge of automated billing systems; experience with CPR+ and Waystar a plus
- Working knowledge and application of metric measurements, basic accounting practices, ICD 9/10, CPT, HCPS coding, and medical terminology
- Solid Microsoft Office skills with the ability to type 40+ WPM
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to independently obtain and interpret information
- Strong attention to detail and ability to be flexible and adapt to work flow volumes
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations as it pertains to revenue cycle management, a plus
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
