Job Summary
Supervises, coordinates, and participates in all activities related to the purchasing, storing, issuing, fitting and repairing of athletic equipment, clothing and uniforms for all University sport teams. Provides management for all related facility operations for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Job Description
The Equipment Operations Manager reports to the Assistant Athletic Director of Business and Events under the leadership of Vice President and Director of Athletics.

  1. Responsible for the issuing, receiving, and fitting of athletic equipment and apparel used across all intercollegiate athletics programs.
  2. Develops and enforces equipment room policies, including hours of operation.
  3. Serve as the Athletics Department liaison to university facilities management.
  4. Enforces university facility policies and procedures.
  5. Coordinate CSU work-order process for all athletic department needs.
  6. Provides laundry services for all intercollegiate teams, including distribution and collection of practice and game uniforms.
  7. Assesses annual needs for activities and laundry; supports budget requests and assists with equipment and apparel needs.
  8. Collaborates with head coaches and athletic administration, to purchase equipment, including clothing and uniforms, through service and purchasing contracts with approved CSU vendors.
  9. Facilitates practice and game uniform purchases to ensure compliance with CSU branding requirements.
  10. Creates and implements a comprehensive system for inventory of equipment and apparel to include checkout and check-in procedures, daily logs, identification and control of all athletic equipment.
  11. Manages laundry operations for cleaning of practice and competition uniforms.
  12. Maintains laundry room equipment
  13. Assists with game operations duties as appropriate.
  14. Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates student workers
  15. Oversee other facility projects designated by the Director of Athletics

Minimum Qualifications
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER

  1. Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.


2.. Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience.

( NOTE: A Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year (12 months) of work experience.)
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in an area of specialization inherent to the position may be required. Also

Athletic Equipment management experience with relevant work experience of up until 1 year or better
Preferred Qualifications
Two years of experience working in equipment operations and handling team laundry preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of NCAA regulations and guidelines governing varsity athletic equipment and uniforms.
  • Athletic Equipment Managers certification preferred (and can be supported after hire).

  • CPR, First Aid Certification is required (and can be completed after hire).
  • Proficiency in using technology including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Strong collaborative skills with a team-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated dedication to continuous personal and professional development.
  • Detailed knowledge of the management of equipment operations and related software.
  • Knowledge of general standards and safety regulations for athletic equipment.
  • Knowledge of commercial/institutional laundry operations, equipment capabilities, and maintenance requirements
  • Knowledge of current laundry industry techniques, processes, and supplies.
  • Knowledge of cleaning agents.
  • Ability to move heavy travel cases, bags, and additional equipment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the University's vehicle use policy

Physical Requirement/ Demands

  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The individual must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Some heavy lifting / moving equipment may be required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.


Work Environment

  • Required to work irregular shifts depending on the season and scheduling of various athletic and sports events.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environments
  • Standing and/or walking up 4 hours at a time.
  • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
  • Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
