As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Alumni Engagement Specialist to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by being responsible for managing and implementing initiatives that provide opportunities for alumni to connect in meaningful ways. The Alumni Engagement Specialist serves the Institutional Advancement Office with a focus on engaging Marian University's 20,000 (and growing!) alumni as defined by the "Six T's". The successful candidate will have a passion for Marian University and serving its diverse community of alumni, students, faculty, staff, and friends. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills, a can-do attitude, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
- Prioritize engagement as defined by the "Six Ts"-time, talent, treasure, ties, testimony, and trust-to ensure at least 30 percent of Marian's alumni are engaged annually.
- Collaborate on communications with alumni across multiple channels including:
- Social media
- Monthly e-newsletters
- Alumni website (marian.edu/alumni)
- Virtual events
- In-person events
- Plays an integral role in organizing and managing in-person and virtual events including alumni's signature event, Homecoming Weekend, which includes class reunion gatherings and other activities that encourage alumni to return home to Marian's campus.
- Recruit and manage volunteers for affinity groups in partnership with Marian University's Alumni Association Board.
- Provide on-site support for signature Advancement events including but not limited to the Gala and Clayton Family Circle of Honor.
- Respond to alumni inquiries promptly.
- Other duties as assigned by the Office of Institutional Advancement leadership.

Required Qualifications:

- A college degree (bachelor's degree preferred) or comparable experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and Word
- Basic understanding of or ability to learn Raiser's Edge NXT which is a Customer Relationship Management software used to track alumni engagement
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills using verbal, written, and electronic mediums
- Willingness to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
- Professionalism and high ethical standards for maintaining confidential information
- Ability to work events and activities that occur outside of standard business hours-including some nights and weekends
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Volunteer management experience a plus
Essential Functions:
Work hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis. Manage absence from work in responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers. Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seeking clarification of them when necessary.
