The GW Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Fellowship Program 1-Year Fellow position at Children's National Hospital, Washington D.C Children's National Medical Center offers a structured fellowship training position in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology. It is designed to take advantage of a very large clinical program which is known worldwide of its outstanding clinical care and cutting-edge research of pediatric brain tumors. The Brain Tumor Institute at Children's National Hospital evaluates more than 100 new patients every year, coming from all parts of the United States and around the world. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children's National Hospital provides comprehensive care for infants and children and young adults undergoing treatment for primary CNS tumors. As trainees in the program, fellows actively participate and learn from these cases. This one-year fellowship includes training in all areas of pediatric Neuro-Oncology besides diagnosis and clinical management of primary CNS tumors: Neuroradiology, Neuropathology, Radiation Oncology, Neuropsychology, Endocrinology, Cancer Genetics, Palliative Care. Fellows participate in patient care both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Didactics and other instructional activities such as weekly case discussions, radiology rounds, multi-institutional tumor board discussions, journal clubs, and one-on-one teaching are integral to the daily experience. Prerequisite for training: - Must have completed a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship or a Child Neurology Residency in an approved training program. - Must have 2-3 letters of recommendation (one of whom must be the chairman or program director of the department where you trained). - Must have completed medical school in the U.S. or be ECFMG certified if an international medical graduate. - Must be successfully able to obtain a District of Columbia unrestricted medical license prior to starting fellowship training. - Must have successfully passed all three steps of the USMLE.
