Position Highlights

The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) Office of Community Outreach & Engagement (COE) is seeking a well-organized and detail-oriented candidate for the position of Research Program Administrator. The position administers research programs for UACC Community Outreach and Engagement. The successful candidate will assist the COE manager in representing the institution while working with funding agencies, faculty, staff and community members to implement research programs and agenda. The position will administer comprehensive and continuous need assessments for the UACC Catchment area (5 southern counties) to inform on the UACC and COE strategic plan moving forward, ultimately reducing the cancer burden in Southern Arizona.

Duties & Responsibilities

Coordinates research recruitment and retention for UACC community assessments and research activities:

  • Under leadership direction, prepares and submits Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, amendments, renewals, reporting, and close-out for compliance with all Human Subjects protocols and associated data collection; this may include working with Tribal councils and IRBs.
  • Provides input to project participant recruitment and retention strategies. Creates population-relevant recruitment materials using research recruitment protocols as a guideline.
  • Provides input to ensure that recruitment strategies are culturally appropriate for rural Southern Arizona populations and Native/Indigenous populations.
  • Reviews subject accruals and recruitment data to ensure research enrollment goals are on target to be met.
  • Conducts quality control and quality assurance checks to include study protocol fidelity.
  • Interacts with community partners and troubleshoots issues related to on-site community based recruitment and data collection.
  • Attends community events for participant recruitment and data dissemination throughout UACC catchment area; this may include evening, overnight and/or weekend travel.

Coordinate and perform day-to-day operational activities for the UACC community assessments and engagement activities including but not limited to:

  • Schedules meetings, coordinates logistics and communications as related to research and assessment activities with internal and external collaborators
  • Assists with project budgets, and procurement of space and equipment/supplies for assessment/research activities.
  • Assists with updating and maintaining standard operating procedures/manual of operations.
  • Maintains project related documents such as informed consent forms, communications, and prepares them for archival and storage as per data storage plan requirements.
  • Assists with sponsor reporting and auditing.
  • Trains and mentors staff and students that may assist on projects.
  • Supports data management and metrics tracking of internal operations aligned with COE strategic plan and logic model

Responsible for data management, reporting and dissemination:

  • Collaborates with data staff to develop and maintain appropriate databases for data management and data analysis
  • Assists with survey administration to include multi-modal approaches to data collection (surveys, interviews, and/or focus groups)
  • Conducts data entry, analyzes data and provides reports regularly and upon request.
  • Assists leadership with data dissemination activities, reports and other materials, in coordination with internal and external stakeholders. This includes sharing and presenting research finding to community groups and stakeholders across the UACC catchment and greater Arizona.
  • Contributes to the development and writing of relevant manuscripts and abstracts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment and in a professional manner.
  • Able to maintain sensitivity with confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
  • Ability to attend community events in the evening and/or weekends.
  • Ability to travel to events throughout the state, including evening, overnight and/or weekend travel.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) or Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), or related health promotion or program management degree.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written)
  • Experience with REDCap database for data management
  • Experience with Human Subjects and IRB and conducting community-based research.
