To manage the Institute for Writing and Rhetoric's administrative and financial activities, and to support the Institute's Director and academic functions. |

Administration: Coordinates administrative functions and activities of the program including establishing internal deadlines and priorities to meet external ones; interprets and applies college-wide policies, ensuring department adherence; with Director, implements department policies and procedures, communicating such to faculty, staff, students and visitors; serves as liaison between the director and program faculty, college administrative offices, college committees, other departments and programs; provides updates to the
ORC, timetables, elective circulars, classroom scheduling and final exams; supports faculty in three different buildings (copier maintenance, coffee, etc.); works across programs, department, and offices with diplomacy and organization; provides notifications/listings to events calendar, event flyers, bulletins, and updates first-year documents; completes Federal Compliance Government Space Survey every three years to assist
OSP with F&A proposal. |

Description |
Financial/Budget Management: Prepares budget reports for the program. Monitors and reconciles all accounts and advises director on financial issues. current year budget and spending, P-card transactions/reconciliation, and adherence to College policy. Oversees electronic purchase orders, journal transfers, requests for reimbursements and forms for disposition of prizes, awards and research stipends. Supports internal and external grants; advises on development of proposals. In conjunction with Director, interacts with departments/programs about their First-Year Seminars; assures
FYS faculty compliance with processes and budgeting. Understands and applies knowledge of purchasing and related Oracle systems. Supports the Director in matters related to current year budget and spending, P-card transactions/reconciliation, and adherence to College policy. |

Description |
Faculty Support: Coordinates faculty searches, including supporting director and faculty on recruitment policies. Posts advertisement in national journals, mailing lists, and websites and responds to all applicant inquiries. Arranges candidate visits to campus. Assists the Director in faculty appointment process and assures compliance with guideline. Monitors for timeliness of adjunct, lecturer, and visiting and faculty appointments, re-appointments and promotions. Organizes and submits 25+ annual faculty contracts. Assists Director on enrollment and course coverage. This includes 1,150 incoming students each year, as well as for readmits, for transfers, etc. Administers course approval process for all courses, including the First-year Seminars. Processes confidential information. Maintains personnel files for each faculty member. Supports faculty/director with financial transactions, including use of chart strings. Assists the Director in the preparation of courses and teaching schedules. Coordinates the textbook ordering process. |

Description |
Communication: Serves as the primary point of contact representing the program to the College and external constituencies. Monitors the academic progress of all special majors. Tracks, collects, edits, and publishes course descriptions. Collaborate with other administrative staff on maintaining the program's web materials. In conjunction with the A&S Development Office and the Director, assists stewardship efforts; including, correspondence with donors and providing information. Supports the program mission and values. Acts appropriately in dealing with others and supports the program's commitment to diversity. |

Event Coordinator: Assists in the coordination of the following types of events: faculty development sessions, meetings, lectures, workshops, conferences, open houses, social gatherings, and seminars. Responsible for advertising/public relations, invitations, room, equipment, food, and expense management for events. |
