Optics Mechanical Engineer (Spacecraft)

Acara Solutions started in the 1950's providing engineering staffing services, now we are one of the larger engineering staffing organizations in North America. We are helping our Santa Barbara Electro-Optical defense contractor find a Electro-Optics Mechanical Engineer to join their organization as a salaried direct employee. Salary range is $160K - $175K.

The Electro-Optics Mechanical Engineer's primary responsibility will be to research, design, develop and test mechanical designs of infrared test equipment. The Electro-Optics Mechanical Engineer will be involved with product design including concepts, design reviews, documentation release and integration. The Electro-Optics Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with other engineering disciples to design mechanisms, precision optical mounts and product packaging. The Electro-Optics Mechanical Engineer will create new designs and perform related design modifications, malfunction and failure investigations and evaluations, technical report preparation and similar ancillary duties.

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

BSME or equivalent

Min 5 years of experience in electro-optical mechanical design that includes working with ray traces, designs with kinematic mounts and mirror mounts.

Min 3 years of experience with Solidworks design (CREO, NX, Catia acceptable) and FEA tools

- This position requires the ability to read, interpret and generate design documentation including schematics, test procedures, parts lists, design descriptions and data records.

This is an ITAR facility - U.S. Persons required.

Cryogenic and vacuum applications (e.g. satellites)
