Position Summary

Reporting to Scholars at Risk's Executive Director, this role is primarily responsible for researching and cultivating contacts with foundations, family foundations, corporations, and government sources, including sources outside of the United States. Key responsibilities include developing and managing prospect lists and records; identifying and researching prospects; developing pitches tailored to each prospect's interests; drafting correspondence, LOIs, and proposals; and tracking follow-ups, schedules, and deadlines. Develop fluency in all areas of SAR's work in order to best identify prospects and to develop pitches, LOIs and proposals.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience:
2+ years development or fundraising experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
3+ years Development or fundraising experience focused on institutional giving (foundations, family foundations, corporations, government sources) from sources outside of the United States, preferably in the human rights, free expression, refugee/migration, or higher education sectors.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent research and writing skills, initiative, persistence, and timely and professional communication, including with staff, leadership, board members, partners, and current and prospective donors. Proven track record for organizing and improving systems. Demonstrated ability to think and plan strategically, set actionable goals and successfully implement them to further the mission of an organization. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Acute attention to detail and a high level of professionalism. Ability to manage projects and responsibilities simultaneously, including prioritization and execution of multiple tasks, meeting tight deadlines and working in a fast-paced environment. Ability to professionally interact with all levels of staff, leadership, partners and other populations. Proficiency with word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and database software.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated interest in human rights and/or higher education. Familiarity with budget management, including the development of expenditure projections. Experience with program development and evaluation, a plus. Adaptability to a variety of interpersonal interactions, both internally and externally.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $70,000.00 to USD $77,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
