Reports to SVP Clinical Services. Plans organizes and manages program operations for Brown University Health affiliates including but not limited to Rhode Island Hospital The Miriam Hospital Newport Hospital and Brown University Health and Brown Medicine Physician Groups.

Responsibilities:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The GI Director plays a pivotal role in the strategic leadership and operational management of gastrointestinal (GI) services within Brown University Health. Reporting directly to the SVP Clinical Services the GI Director ensures alignment with organizational goals while fostering a culture of excellence respect and fiscal responsibility. This role involves collaborating with key stakeholders including physicians managers and directors to drive business growth enhance operational efficiency and maintain high-quality patient care standards.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Strategic Planning and Goal Setting

- Develop and recommend short and long-term goals for GI business operations in alignment with Brown University Health's mission values strategic and financial objectives.

- Collaborate with the SVP and other stakeholders to establish operating priorities and initiatives aimed at driving strategic goals and positive margin growth.

- Assess national and local benchmarks and in collaboration with senior leadership establish appropriate access targets and timelines to achieve.

Resource Utilization and Financial Management:

- Review and optimize resource utilization including people financial and material resources to support business operations effectively.

- Reviews revenue cycle management within the operations scope highlighting any opportunities for improvement and monitors financial performance as appropriate.

- Develop and execute business plans and monitor financial performance highlighting opportunities for improvement and implementing value-based reimbursement approaches.

- Develop department budgets monitor revenue and expenses monthly to explain variances and identify areas for improvements.. Collaborate with leadership to develop department budgets monitor revenue and expenses and identify areas for improvement to optimize fiscal performance.

Operational Leadership and Coordination

- Direct the planning design and implementation of coordinated business operations ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.

- Collaborate with peers and colleagues to define functional standards and maximize return on investment (ROI) through effective management.

- Directs the development of financial and technical specifications and issuance of requests for proposal (RFP).

Customer Service and Employee Development

- Serve as a role model for corporate values and maintain positive customer service relationships by identifying and meeting customer needs.

- Leverage annual employee engagement survey information to create regular feedback process and create a culture of safety to support to staff in maximizing their potential and contribute to organizational success.

- Effectively and continually communicates with staff management and customers to facilitate the flow of information necessary to the success of the employees departments programs and the organization.

- Support the organizations mission of developing superior care to our community.

- Monitor and develop processes to meet access targets

Quality Improvement and Compliance

- Promote effective planning and coordination of business operations to meet or exceed customer needs and comply with accreditation and regulatory standards.

- Develop and evaluate services to ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

- Participates in quality assessment and improvement programs to evaluate effectiveness of care delivered.

- Participates in the formation of policy procedures and standards organizational committees and compliance to TJC standards.

Interdepartmental Collaboration and Integration

- Work with ambulatory practice leaders and managers to support endoscopy services efficiently across GI services optimizing productivity and access.

- Serves as an interface for hospital departments and works with that team to grow external referrals and comprehensive GI procedures performed.

Qualifications:

Master*s degree in healthcare administration business administration or related field

Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare administration with a focus on GI services or related areas.

Strong leadership strategic planning and financial management skills.

Excellent communication interpersonal and customer service skills.

Knowledge of healthcare regulations accreditation standards and quality improvement methodologies.

SUPERVISION:

Supervisory responsibility for up to 30 FTEs.
