First Review 12-5-24 Application Window Open date: November 21, 2024 Next review date: Friday, Dec 6, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Monday, Jun 30, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The UC Davis Writing Center invites applications for lecturers to teach general education writing courses at the entry level, first year and/or upper division. A PhD in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field is preferred. An MA, MS, or graduate specialization in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies or closely related field will also be considered. University-level experience in teaching developmental writing is desired. We are interested in candidates, as well, who have experience teaching hybrid courses and contributing to curriculum and faculty development projects. Ability to work successfully with a student population that is linguistically and culturally diverse is also very important. Successful candidates will be familiar with contemporary composition theory and practice. The Writing Center is a unit that houses writing instruction as well as writing support, tutoring and consulting. The Center is committed to teaching a linguistically and culturally diverse student body and to hiring instructors who reflect that diversity. UC Davis is an AANAPI and HSI. Appointments will begin on Jan 1, 2025, and the percentage of time will be determined by the numberof courses hired to teach. Applicants must have a PhD (completed or near-completed) or MA/MS in Rhetoric and Composition/Writing Studies. Degrees in other fields may be considered along with relevant teaching experience. Additional qualifications

Additional qualifications include experience teaching one or more of the following: developmental writing, basic writing, developmental reading. Preferred qualifications

Preferred qualifications include university-level experience in teaching diverse student populations, bilingual and multilingual students, first-generation college students, and writing across the curriculum courses.
