DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Nurse Aide, you will provide skilled care and personal care to patients in a long-term care facility. You will collect specimens for lab work, assist with daily living activities, and ensure hygiene and basic physical needs are met for our inmates. You will also complete documentation and respond to emergency situations. Your attentiveness provides our inmates with comfort and safety, which enables you to report changes in physical conditions and behaviors as they arise.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
  • DOC is staffed by three (3) work shifts that cover the facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with 8 hour shifts and rotating days off. 1st shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 2nd shift 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM; 3rd shift 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Work hours to be determined.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or
  • Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.

Special Requirements:

  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
