The team you'll be part of

Bell Labs Core Research, Summer Intern - Network Architecture Research

The Network Architecture Research team is taking an end-to-end view of communication networks, from mobile and fixed access to IP/optical transport and cloud. We are looking for problem solvers with excellent analytical and programming skills who are excited to explore problems in cross-domain networking.

Education Recommendations

Currently pursuing a PhD or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar from an accredited college/university in the US.

As part of our team, you will:



  • Work with members of the Network Architecture Research team to define and implement software that solves cloud and networking problems
  • Implement proof of concept demonstrations
  • Leverage open-source and cloud software solutions


  • Strong programming skills: e.g., Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, and similar
  • Knowledge of communication networks and cloud computing, e.g., containerization tools like Kubernetes and Docker


Nice to have:



  • Experience with Hyperledger Fabric or other Web 3 and distributed ledger (blockchain) technologies
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms, e.g., AWS, GCP
  • Knowledge of packet or optical transport networks
  • An understanding of AI/ML methodologies
