Position Highlights |
Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice to teach traditional and online courses in the Nutritional Sciences and Wellness (NSW) program. This is a 9-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment (non-tenure-eligible); additional summer teaching opportunities may be available. The position will involve 90% teaching and 10% service (approximately three classes per academic semester). This position is central to the teaching mission of the School of Nutritional Sciences and Wellness and involves teaching courses during Spring and Fall semesters with optional teaching in Winter and Summer.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Teach an average of six 3 credit courses, or a combination of lecture and lab courses totaling up to 18 credits per year, during the regular academic year (fall/spring semesters), with primary responsibility for the main campus NSW program. Courses will be delivered via a variety of methods including face-to-face/in-person, fully online, and hybrid delivery. Courses and/or topics presently in need of staffing include but are not limited to: Fundamentals of Food Science Lecture, Food Studies Laboratory, Food and Fermentation Laboratory and Food and Fermentation Lecture - As needed, develop and teach online coursework for various program initiatives (i.e., Arizona Online, Arizona Distance campuses, others) as directed by the Director of the School of NSW - As needed, develop and teach face-to-face coursework to support the Food Science Minor and Major initiatives as directed by the Director of the School - Serve on academic committees as needed - Provide additional service requirements to NSW; for example, student club advising, and student project oversight - Provide community support in the areas of food and fermentation science collaboration as needed Knowledge of food processing equipment/procedures; Product Development practices; Sensory Evaluation Testing; Food Regulation and Labeling; Food Chemistry; Food and Beverage Fermentation. Skills in Project Management; Leadership Ability to communicate effectively; Creative Problem Solving; Multi Tasking |
Minimum Qualifications |
- Master's degree in Food Science or other related discipline
- Three years or more of industry experience in food industry or other related discipline with progressively increasing responsibilities and/or training of personnel, or significant teaching and student-mentoring experience in traditional classroom settings at a college or university level
