Position Highlights Provide technology support, including A/V installation, design assistance, and preventative maintenance across spaces. In addition to supporting day-to-day operations, the role involves conducting technology assessments, planning and leading team projects, and selecting new equipment and technical designs. Strong customer service skills, coupled with a deep understanding of A/V environments, are essential for consulting with faculty, staff, and students. The candidate must work collaboratively with others who serve the location, ensuring requests are handled efficiently.

This role is not eligible for flexible work arrangements

The successful candidate(s) are required to obtain (if not already obtained) Crestron CTI-Commercial Technician and Extron AV Associate Certifications, AVIXA CTS, and Dante Level III certification. Time frame for completion will be determined with supervisor at time of onboarding.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve A/V issues in a variety of learning environments.
  • Respond to customer requests and ensure adherence to SLA's through ticketing and phone systems.
  • Coordinate installation of campus A/V systems with Instructional Technology staff.
  • Adhere to change management processes and deploy firmware/security updates to networked systems.
  • Demonstrate and instruct faculty on new and existing classroom technology.
  • Documentation of classroom configurations, wiring diagrams, and program components.
  • Work with Instructional Technology team to perform repairs and assist with A/V installations across campus.
  • Work with A/V integrators, I.T. stakeholders, and facilities management to ensure technology is appropriately integrated through project completion.
  • Responsible for technology maintenance and ensuring operation of campus spaces.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs with external vendors.
  • Monitor A/V systems and perform preventative maintenance/repairs.
  • Actively research new solutions, techniques, and products available, while evaluating the current technology in classrooms.
  • Maintain technical mastery in the areas of A/V technology such as sound, video, networking, programming.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent customer service including skill in providing information technology related support and training to users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for analyzing A/V hardware and software problems down to the component level, with experience in installation, maintenance, and independent problem solving.
  • Knowledge of computers, networks, and remote troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage time effectively, while handling multiple priorities.
  • Strong grasp of Audio & Video including signal flow, equipment functionality, control, and programming.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to manage projects and timelines, as appropriate.
  • Adept at identifying and mitigating risks, ensuring business continuity, data security, and customer satisfaction.
  • Understanding of firmware deployment and change management process of networked systems.
  • Familiarity with NDI systems
  • Understanding of AutoCAD/Visio.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience AND minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a customer service environment with an emphasis in resolving audio/visual and other classroom technology problems.
  • Experience utilizing ticketing systems to manage work and document customer interactions.
  • AVIXA CTS Certification or similar.
  • Managing equipment through a CMDB, and overseeing the lifecycle of classroom equipment from installation to replacement.
  • Experience working with IT networks relating to AVoIP (AV over IP).<
  • Experience with various cable terminations and understanding of how to properly run cable, including but not limited to, audio, video, and low voltage cabling.
  • Experience working with audiovisual consultants and contractors in the integration of audiovisual technologies in new construction and renovation projects.
  • AVB, Dante, Biamp, Crestron NVX, Extron or similar A/V Certification.
  • Experience in higher education.
