Reach Resilience is a national grant-making foundation (the "Foundation") headquartered in San Antonio and is committed to serving communities in crisis by advancing economic security, well-being, and disaster recovery. In 2021, the Foundation was formed by Endeavors, a non-profit organization founded more than 50 years ago, which today provides social services to private agencies and local, state, and federal governments. The Foundation provides funding to support mission-aligned organizations, and to advance the work of Endeavors in the communities it serves or aims to serve. The Foundation works closely with community organizations, local leaders, and other funders to identify and address needs across the nation.

JOB PURPOSE:

The Director of Grants and Programs position plays a critical role as part of the Foundation's impact-oriented team. The position advances the Foundation's goals in designated issue areas, analyzes, reviews, and makes recommendations on grant proposals. It also analyzes and conducts research on key issues related to the Foundation's impact goals and priority grantmaking areas, manages capacity building programs, and is responsible for coordination of the Foundation's grants management system. Under the helm of programs, this role will pay a key role in managing communications, as well as handle general office administrative functions.


Qualifications

Director of Programs Responsibilities



  • Contributes to the development, shaping, implementation and assessment of grant making strategy in priority areas to advance the Foundation's mission and impact goals.
  • Responsible for reviewing grant proposals, conducting site visits, evaluating, and making grant recommendations to the President & CEO, as well as reviewing grant reports.
  • Conducts program research, analysis, planning and writes strategy papers for key Foundation priorities and initiatives. Develops landscape assessments and researches, identifies, understands, and shares best practices, what's effective, and emerging issues.
  • Builds, nurtures, and strengthens relationships with the Foundation's nonprofit partners, fellow funders, and other stakeholders to understand the issues, challenges, needs and opportunities in the community. Serves as an informed thought partner and facilitator of connections to leverage efforts and opportunities in assigned issue areas.
  • At the direction of the President & CEO, serves as the Foundation's representative to manage and advance strategic program initiatives.
  • Provides guidance on grant and program related internal and external communications to ensure content accurately reflects the Foundation's work, aligns with industry norms and best practices, and supports the Foundation's strategic priorities.
  • Lead, plan, and execute community-based event planning activities that build awareness and promote Reach Resilience. Arrange photo opportunities and coordinates appropriate press conferences.
  • Actively participates in a culture of learning within the organization to deepen the impact of the work, identify opportunities to improve the programmatic work and processes of the Foundation, explore new approaches and ways of advancing toward the impact goals, and set and work toward team and individual learning and professional development goals.


Grants Management Duties



  • Coordinates the grantmaking cycle including processing grant applications, conducting due diligence, coordinating site visits (as needed), preparing grant agreements, award and payment letters, processing grant reports, managing payment schedules, and responding to applicant inquires by phone and email. Manages the overall grants management system with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Utilizes electronic grants management system to maintain grant database and ensure that all grant documentation is complete, accurate and current.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to applicants and grantees to facilitate their grant application, award, and reporting and their use of the Foundation's online system.
  • Performs routine and ad hoc reporting to track and analyze the Foundation's grant-making portfolio and progress toward strategic impact goals. Uses grants data and other data sources, data visualization and other tools to interpret, report and present the Foundation's grantmaking for internal and external audiences.


Organizational and Administrative Duties



  • Acts as the liaison between the Foundation and its communications contractor by facilitating clear and effective communication, seamless exchange of information, and fostering successful collaboration between both entities.
  • Provides support as needed for the grants administration function.
  • Provides input for strategic communications and recommends updates to the website based on grantmaking.
  • Undertakes special projects, as assigned.
  • Attends events with key stakeholders, including foundations, grantees, and potential grantees.



EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in philanthropy or similar fields
  • Proven experience in providing exemplary grant and program management
  • In-depth understanding of administrative and grantmaking procedures
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • An analytical mind with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • A team player with leadership skills


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Communication skills. Director of Grants and Programs must be able to document and present research and related information.
  • Computer skills. Excellent computer skills. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office, Zoom, (and similar platforms) and SharePoint preferred. Ability to gain proficiency in all grant, program, and administrative software, as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
  • Organizational skills. They must be detail oriented and adapt quickly to changing deadlines.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance during business hours at such level as is determined at the employer's sole discretion. Flexibility in hours required as needed for business purposes.

LICENSES: Driver's License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
