Sr. Planner (Commercial Space Systems)
Position Profile:
This position is responsible for all tasks relative to the scheduling of raw materials within the machine shop and services that are required to support production and development work orders. These activities include, but are not limited to, managing work orders to support MRP and non MRP requirements, product development, follow through on all nonconforming material matters and the timely and accurate processing, follow up, rescheduling of all work orders and system maintenance.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:


  • Plan and schedule work orders
  • Release requisitions to purchasing on a timely basis
  • Manage work order material flow from inception through completion
  • Manage component shortages to resolution
  • Work closely with all functional areas of the business.
  • Perform planning and production tasks, anticipate program needs, and expedite material and tool requirements for production, manufacturing and assembly operations.
  • Responsible for developing, coordinating and communicating the daily production schedule including the creation and release of work orders.
  • Schedule production factoring in work orders, maintenance, new product development, inventory availability and capacity planning.
  • Measure performance of all critical factors to ensure compliance to plans to include publishing of KPI's.
  • Lead issue resolution when products are behind schedule or at risk of being behind schedule.
  • Own production orders from start to finish, recording time and output and troubleshooting any discrepancies immediately with a common goal of correcting the problems.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of production orders.
  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, quality, purchasing and management to provide timely status of work products and / or problem identification and resolution.
  • Maintain the ERP system integrity to drive material and production schedules and execute processes per requirements. Maintain ERP system parameters including material master data and performance criteria
  • Own customer service performance of assigned products and resources.


Minimum Required Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 5 + years planning/scheduling in fast pace mixed product manufacturing environment
  • Experience with supporting production cells and Kanban replenishment
  • Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing principles
  • KANBAN experience
  • Working knowledge of MRP systems, planning and scheduling activities
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to; vendors, suppliers, customers, etc.
  • Strong computer literacy, with MS Office/PC expertise, and demonstrated experience with applicable systems, programs, equipment, etc.
  • Must be a US Citizen

  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Abide by all safety, quality, housekeeping and company policies/procedures to ensure compliance to all regulatory and internal system requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization
  • Actively participate in team meetings, improvement initiatives/programs, etc. and support actions to drive company initiatives/goals
  • Assist in the training of personnel to perform required technical tasks (as directed)

  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Ensure that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required.


Work Environment:


  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, as well as environments inclusive of the appropriate eye, hearing and foot protection (as required).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including, but not limited to: fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise and vibration
  • Temperature of work environment may be affected by outside/external temperatures, machining processes, etc.
  • This is a full-time position. Overtime and weekend work could be required as job duties demand.
  • Travel is not expected for this position

This position is at our Parsippany, NJ corporate offices location.
