Position Summary

Respond to urgent and emergency situations with students and provide counseling and crisis intervention weekdays, evenings and/or weekends including being available for 24 hour on call coverage. Conduct clinical assessments online, by phone, and in-person, assessing students' emotional or psychological issues; develop and implement appropriate interventions including immediate hospitalization and/or referrals to other University medical and mental health care offices. Follow-up with students, their health care providers, families and appropriate University administration to monitor the progress of students treatment and recovery.



Qualifications

Required Education:
Licensed Master's degree in Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Licenced Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Master's degree in Nursing with specialization in mental health and/or substance abuse. (Must be licensed in New York State)

Preferred Education:
Advanced training/research in suicide prevention and sexual assault cases.

Required Experience:
3 years' clinical case management experience in a trauma setting or mobile crisis response unit (e.g., hospital emergency room, community mental health center, ACT team or similar community based organization) addressing depression, suicidality, sexual assault, substance abuse and emotional and other psychological issues. Experience assessing students in crisis and creating nuanced safety plans.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working with diverse adolescent or college population managing treatment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with research on mental health needs of college students including suicide prevention.



Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $82,229.40 to USD $100,502.60. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
