Position Highlights |
University Facility Services at the University of Arizona is looking to fill a HVAC Lead Mechanic position. The qualified individual will lead work of Journey-level HVAC Mechanics and General Maintenance Mechanics and participate in the repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of systems. The candidate will be a good communicator and team player with a strong background in maintenance.

Duties & Responsibilities |
- Participate in the repair, maintenance and installation duties in the trade. This can range from heating, ventilation, and air conditioning units. Will help troubleshoot by diagnosing and resolving complex HVAC issues, using technical skills to identify problems and implement solutions.
- Assign and inspect the work of HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanics and General Maintenance Mechanics, initiates corrective actions to secure satisfactory standards and timely project completion. Helps problem solve issues at the work site and recommend best steps to move forward with. Will involve travel around campus in a UA work vehicle.
- Plans and develops what work sites/buildings need to be attended to first based on urgency of the project or problem. Will draw up work schedules based on order of work tickets needed in order of urgency and assign to employees to help plan out their work day. Monitors equipment usage schedules and procedures for equipment maintenance.
- Maintains time, payroll and material records; submits reports and assists in the performance evaluation process. Works with Work Control team on tickets issued and plans based on urgency.
- Determines material and labor estimates, orders equipment and parts for jobs.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- In addition to the education and experience minimum qualifications, Apprenticeship program, technical training experience required.
- Ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

- Prior supervisory experience.
- Prior experience working in a college/university setting.
