Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Printing Department reports to the Director of Business and Auxiliary Services under the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration. It is the only department on campus to provide a wide range of printing services or to determine if off-campus printing is more feasible and cost-effective.

Primary Purpose of the Position:
This position provides printing and nishing services in a Print Shop. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Print Supervisor who regularly checks work performed for quality and adherence to established policies. The position uses digital printing equipment to produce a variety of print products for customers, including the installation of some printed pieces.
Use digital printing equipment and large format equipment to produce a variety of print products for customers. It also operates bindery and ADA signage machines with routing and engraving capabilities. Installation of some printed pieces.. including but not limited to vehicle wraps, wall wraps, and signage. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Description of Work Continued:
45%-Operate large-format printers/finishing equipment and install printed products such as wall signage, wall murals, vehicle wraps, etc., when needed. Operate our large-format roll-to-roll printer and flatbed printer to produce signage for the University on various substrates. Trim and mount printed materials. Be the lead person on large-format production and installation.

20%- Operates an ADA engraver/ router for campus signage needs. Routes and engraves on plastic, acrylic, wood, signboards, etc. Calculates materials needed for jobs and advises the supervisor.

10%-Operate bindery equipment such as folding machines, cutting equipment, laminating equipment, and stitching machines. Perform nishing and grommet installation on vinyl banners. Bind books.

10%-Does inventory and list materials needed for large format jobs. Advises on best materials and methods for projects in the large format area.

5%-Use digital printing equipment to produce a variety of print products for customers. Print covers and interior pages. Operates our highspeed copiers with inline finishing capabilities to produce business cards, letterhead, brochures, etc.

3%- Manage production and shipping/delivery in the absence of the print supervisor. Respond to customers' requests in a timely and accurate manner.

2%-Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous print experience with Digital printing and large format is preferred.
  • Experience in vehicle wrapping, flatbed printer work, and sign shop work is also preferred.
