Gundersen Health System is looking for a Histology Technician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) to join our laboratory team.

What You'll Do:

As a Histology Technician/Technologist, you will be responsible for performing various tasks required for receiving, processing, and preparing patient tissue specimens for microscopic examination and analysis by the Pathologists' Assistant and Pathologist. Duties include specimen receipt and accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, paraffin sectioning, H&E staining, and special staining; averaging around 400 blocks a day.

What's Available:

  • 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)

  • Monday - Friday starting at 8 am with call rotation

  • Orientation would be variable day shifts (start times range between 5 am to 8 am)

  • Starting pay of $24.89 and up, based on your years of experience

What You'll Need (Histology Technician):

  • Associate degree with a combination of 12 semester hours (18 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry (must include credit hours in both), or ASCP board-certified HT/HTL. A copy of the applicant's/employee's diploma and/or transcript as confirmation of the education requirement must be provided at the time of hire

  • 1 year of current or previous healthcare, laboratory or research work experience

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification within 2 years of hire

  • We will train the skills and provide the books and study materials needed to pass the boards

  • Self-starter with strong fine motor skillsand attention to detail

  • Knowledge of biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is essential for success in this role
