Job Summary:

If you're looking for a great team of colleagues with a variety of work where no two days are the same, look no further! The School of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to join the facilities team!

This position is trainable and will be expected to assist with building maintenance and services in both our brand new state-of-the-art north building and our south building, attend required trainings and event preparation, assist with facility and equiptment inspections, and so much more! This role will also be cross trained in our mail room and as a lab technician.

The incumbent will start with close supervision and progress to limited supervision within their required 12 month probation period.


Responsibilities:
Assists with facility and equipment inspection, maintenance, and repairs to ensure property meets established standards and to prevent further damage. Assists with construction, and meeting and event preparation as needed.

  • 5% Utilizes basic equipment to repair and maintain basic machinery, equipment, and facility property under close supervision to prevent further damage and ensure optimal operation
  • 10% Assists with routine facility inspections and monitors cleanliness
  • 5% Escalates and documents issues according to established policies and procedures
  • 45% Assists with inventory and distribution of deliveries to appropriate entities under close supervision
  • 5% Assists trades, crafts, vendors, and technical staff with construction, design, and operational maintenance as needed
  • 10% Sets up and tears down equipment for institutional meetings and events
  • 5% Assists with recycling and compost when supported by UW
  • 10% Processes and distributes mail. Assists with copiers, FedEx and UPS
  • 5% Assists Lab tech in shared equipment duties


Tasks:

  • Shipping, receiving, and delivery from the dock
  • Ordering salt, dry ice, and nitrogen
  • Tracking flam chem
  • Coordinate building maintenance with mechanical walk throughs, set-ups and snow removal, and other grounds work as needed

Qualifications:

Self-motivated individual who is a fast learner and comfortable working both independently and in a team environment with a wide variety of people.

Forklift experience is preferred

Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 4:00pm.
