Purpose of Position
The Associate Director of Housing Operations is a full-time professional staff member in the Office of University Housing. This individual reports directly to the Director of University Housing.

This position is primarily responsible for providing leadership in the areas of housing operations, finance and billing, marketing and communications, and essential student services. These areas of responsibility are central to the success of the department's student and organizational initiatives.

This is a twelve month live off position and the normal working hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
However, due to the nature of the job responsibilities, working hours will include some evening, weekend and variable hours.
Primary Responsibilities
* Provide oversight and supervision for the Housing Business Manager, Assignments Coordinator, Housing Operations Specialist, and interns for the Housing Operations team
* Manage and adjudicate requests for exception and appeals of housing contract policies, freshman residency requirement, meal plan exemptions and policies relating to assignments and disputes/inquiries regarding housing assignments, contracting, and billing
* Project and manage occupancy needs based on University and Department long-term strategic plans, enrollment counts and projections, and application counts and projections
* Respond to individual concerns of students, parents, and other constituents in relation to residential village contracts, policies, procedures, and assignments
* Develop, interpret and revise departmental policies and procedures, track internal and external trends in the housing operations program and prepare projections on future residents needs, and University Housing learning outcomes
* Develop an effective communication system for student, faculty and staff input to create more streamlined and formalized University Housing processes
* Coordinate and implement the following processes: room change process, housing recontracting process, fall and spring move in weekend, summer housing transitions, etc.
* Develop and monitor progress on established learning outcomes for the housing operations goals
* Serve as the department coordinator for the spring to summer housing transition, summer to fall housing transition, and holiday break periods
* Establish and administer overall goals, objectives, and long range project planning for the Housing Operations unit of the Office of University Housing
* Provide leadership and indirect supervision to Student Specialists and other student staff members
* Develop and maintain liaison relationships with appropriate academic, financial, administrative, and student service departments
* Provide leadership and advisement to the Residence Life team regarding housing policies, procedures, and important University and University Housing dates and events
* Serve as the administrator and liaison between maintenance/housekeeping, the residence life team, and the housing operations team for transition periods and housing procedures
* Serve as a contact for collaborative programming with other departments on campus
* Support and foster collaborative programming initiatives that foster seamless student learning
* Coordinate on-going training opportunities for both professional and paraprofessional staff of the Office of University Housing
* Collaborate with Conference Service Manager and Associate Director of the Student Union regarding guest housing and summer conference marketing, recruitment, housing placement, and responses to inquiries
* Participate in the overall administration of the Student Affairs Division and university by attending meetings in absence of or in conjunction with the Director of University Housing, serving on committees, representing the division and university as requested and cooperatively assisting colleagues.
* Serve as the department liaison to offices within the areas of Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, Intercollegiate Athletics, and Academic Affairs
* Coordinate and communicate with University faculty and staff in projecting and preparing for the needs of special student populations including, but not limited to: athletics, learning communities, block/group housing, disability/student support services, and orientation
* Assist in the marketing and recruitment of summer conference and guest housing process
* Assist in the development of living/learning and affinity group housing initiatives to increase student engagement *
* Maintain active involvement with state, regional, and/or national professional associations in order to enhance professional knowledge and departmental relations with other local, state, and national institutions
* Identify local, regional, and national resources to assist professional and paraprofessional staff.
* Coordinate staff placement including recruiting, selection, and reappointment.
* Serve as committee member and/or committee chairperson for selection committees both in University Housing and in the Division of Student Affairs
* Coordinate individual/personal requests and departmental requests for the early arrival process for Fall Move In Weekend
Qualifications
Computer literacy and ability to learn computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver, Residential Management System ( RMS) and other student information systems.
