POSITION OVERVIEW

The responsibilities of the Operations Technician are to organize the documents needed by shipping operators and transportation companies to prepare and deliver shipments to our customers in full compliance with regulatory requirements. The position also confirms the related shipments internally to ensure correct and prompt invoicing to our customers.

The work schedule for this role is Monday - Friday, 1st shift.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate coverage of company-managed loads to ensure coverage
    • Following material handling precautions, as needed, or required.
    • Following the principles of the Management System which would include the following:
    • Manage waste in area according to established procedures.
    • Perform tasks in a safe manner.
    • Maintain housekeeping standards.
    • Report spills according to established procedures.
    • Identify issues that may lead to environmental, health, or safety issues.
    • Following all rules and regulations regarding the transportation of material according to 49CFR.
    • Allocate lots of material to order when needed.
    • Perform order maintenance functions.
    • Maintenance of files of Bill of Ladings, Certificate of Analysis, and pick slips.
    • Provide dispatch operations and functions.
    • Create scale tickets for tanker live loads
  • Coordinate with customer service to ensure orders are complete and correct
  • Process customer orders to achieve timely shipment
  • Prepare and provide pick lists, pack lists, COAs, and labels and seals for order preparation
  • Prepare and provide the bill of ladings, placarding, export papers, etc. as required for carriers
  • Coordinate with shipping personnel on order filling and required changes
  • Coordinate with carriers and internally for incoming and outgoing freight
  • Manage and communicate off-hours/security plant truck traffic.
  • File associated records: BOL, COA, pick slips, etc.
  • Monitor/manage open order reports daily/attend the daily morning meeting.
  • Confirm order when prepared for shipments.
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing freight.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Knowledge of all general plant safety rules
  • Administer specified tasks in SAP
  • Monitor shipping supplies and coordinate with purchasing clerk.
  • Coordinate with Customer Service teams on orders.
  • Follow rules and regulations of DOT HAZMAT, IATA, and DG
  • Other duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma
  • Self-motivated requiring little direct supervision to accomplish tasks
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-2 years of Shipping Experience
  • Associates Degree in Business
  • Experience using SAP
  • DOT HAZMAT, IATA, DG certification
  • Truck Scale Weighmaster License
