*The range provided is based on cost of living/geography and what we believe is reasonable in the market at the time of posting. This role may be eligible for annual bonus and annual merit increase, as well as long term compensation. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors.

How You'll Perform the Role

The Product and Zero Waste Specialist is responsible for driving waste diversion sales for Eco-Products customers by utilizing relationships with haulers, composters, and our sustainability-minded customers. This position will serve as a "consultant" to our team and our customer base with a focus on Waste Diverting operators and direct-sales accounts (i.e., stadiums, corporate campuses, and universities, etc.).

Job Specifications



  • Work alongside Sales Managers, Sustainability Manager, brokers, distributor representatives and Boulder corporate team to target and assist to close high-volume accounts in the adoption of waste diversion practices using Eco-Products foodservice packaging.
  • Develop a working knowledge of local state policy related to foodservice packaging and waste diversion infrastructure to assist customers with compliance and to collaborate with the corporate team about advocacy opportunities.
  • Work together with the broader Product and Zero Waste Specialist team, composters and haulers, a variety of prominent industry groups, local advocacy efforts, and the Sustainability Manager, to advance composter acceptance of compostable packaging and increase commercial composting infrastructure across the Eco-Products sales footprint.
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%, including overnight trips.
  • This position is based in California, with responsibility for supporting the markets of Northern California, Oregon, and Washington.


Responsibilities



  • Drive waste diverting operator sales in coordination with the RSM and brokers.
  • Serve as a consultant to both prospects and clients looking to strengthen their commitment to sustainable packaging and waste diversion.
  • Develop and expand relationships with compost manufacturers in the region and drive forward increased acceptance of compostable foodservice packaging at compost operations.
  • Be informed of market conditions, product innovations, legislative challenges or opportunities, waste diversion infrastructure opportunities, and competitor products, prices, and sales.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What We Need From You

  • Ability to build strong relationships with all points of the customer base and across our stakeholders (composters, haulers, policymakers, procurement professionals, etc.)
  • 2 or more years of work experience
  • Ability to self-manage remotely including strong planning and time management skills.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong customer facing skills with emphasis to negotiate win/win situations.
  • Must be willing to work independently while also being a strong team player.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees.
  • Maintain professional internal and external relationships that meet company core values.
  • Base level understanding of sustainability and environmental topics
  • Desired Education Level: BS/BA degree in relevant field
  • Preferred but not required:


    • Knowledge of Waste Diverting operations and organics recycling/composting in the region
    • Knowledge of legislation landscape in Northern CA, OR, WA, AK (and other regions)
    • 1-5 years of progressive sales experience preferably in the food service industry.
    • Degree in Sustainability or related field a plus



Work Environment

This is a full time, exempt position. Some weekend and evening work is required.
