Duties and Responsibilities
Description
The College Transfer Coordinator builds effective relationships with students, campus partners, and receiving institutions to ensure successful matriculation for Arrupe College graduates who continue to a bachelor's degree program. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, the College Transfer Coordinator joins a team of academic support personnel committed to the retention of current Arrupe students and the persistence of degree-seeking alums.
Primary Responsibilities
* Develop and implement strategies to ensure students successfully persist through the college transfer process. * Meet regularly with students 1:1 by appointment, during office hours, and in small group formats (seminars, workshops) to facilitate discernment of academic goals while promoting and demystify the college transfer process.
* Help ensure students clearly understand comprehensive steps to transfer process, including but not limited to: investigating options, identifying priorities (i.e. cost, majors, timeline for earning degree) while balancing them with realistic goals, adherence to deadlines, drafting meaningful personal statements, pursuing scholarship opportunities, understanding financial aid award letters, as well as responsibilities associated with course registration, housing, and other onboarding processes.
* Serve as primary point of contact on behalf of Arrupe to external college transfer partners to maintain understanding of their priorities and trends in transfer admission, as well as facilitate two-way campus visits to showcase transfer opportunities to students.
* Collaborate with internal university partners to promote transfer opportunities into Loyola bachelor's programs; also help coordinate smooth transition for Arrupe students with respect to admission, academic advising, financial aid, and wraparound support at Loyola.
* Investigate and aggressively pursue unique scholarships and partnerships that can benefit Arrupe students in their college transfer pursuits.
* Innovate and execute events designed to prominently celebrate students' degree completion and college transfer plans.
* Thoughtfully redirect students who will not pursue bachelor's programs to other resources such as the Alumni Coordinator and Career Services.
* Closely monitor students who must transfer back credits from receiving institutions in order to confer associate's degrees from Arrupe.
* Oversee college transfer data for the College, including but not limited to: transfer-with-award rates, admissions rates, average transfer awards, and average out-of-pocket costs. Track first-time transfer enrollment by institution and by cohort.
* Contribute meaningfully to narrative records maintained in Slate, while also serving on the steering committee for the usage and deployment of Slate at Arrupe.
* Manage budget associated with promoting student transfer processes, with strict adherence to university's financial policies and guidelines.
* Fulfill other duties as assigned that contribute to achieving strategic goals of the Office of Academic Affairs and the College at large, including but not limited to participation in admissions interviews, open houses, registration campaigns, academic interventions, and commencement.
Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
* Experience instructing young adults formally and informally.
* Demonstrated facility with data management.
* Committed to social justice and mission of the College.
* Excellent oral, written, presentation and communication skills.
* At least 2-3 years' experience working in education.
Qualifications
* Exceptional ability to collaborate with diverse portfolio of students and both internal and external higher education professionals.
* Understanding of post-secondary transfer/admission practices and policies, especially as they apply to first-generation, nontraditional, underrepresented students.
* Awareness of current issues and trends in higher education, especially those related to student persistence and the transfer experience.
* Demonstrated experience working with college-aged students in a position of authority, leadership, and/or mentorship.
* Demonstrated accountabilities working with and managing data.
* Genuine commitment to social justice, the mission of the College, and its students.
Certificates/Credentials/Licenses
* Bachelor's degree required (Master's strongly preferred) in education/administration, counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
Computer Skills
* Experience with Microsoft Office, Slate, PeopleSoft, Qualtrics, T4, Sakai all helpful and preferred, but not required
