The US Oncology Network is looking for a full-time Senior Associate Counsel to join our team! This position is located in the corporate office in Dallas, Texas. What does the Senior Associate Counsel do? As a senior level attorney, the Senior Associate Counsel supports the Texas Oncology's General Counsel in the following areas: lead attorney on corporate transactions, contract drafting and review, providing legal guidance to physicians and other clinicians, litigation support, managing compliance matters. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities:
- Lead legal support for corporate transactions by performing due diligence, drafting or reviewing Asset Purchase Agreements, Conveyance Agreements, Master Transaction Agreements, and other transactional documents.
- Involved in all aspects of contract process, including overseeing intake of requests for contracts; reviewing or drafting agreements such as non-disclosure, consulting, on-call, employment and service contracts, and amendments, termination, and correspondence related thereto; and maintaining contract database.
- Manage litigation, subpoenas, and deposition requests.
- Respond to requests for legal guidance, including researching legal issues and providing information on corporate entities.
- Work with Compliance and Revenue Cycle on investigating and resolving regulatory matters.
- Manage or assist with special projects.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following background and experience:
- Juris Doctorate (JD) and current Texas law license required
- Exceptional writing and oral communication skills with attention to detail
- Minimum of six (6) years of health law experience in the law firm or in-house setting
- Significant experience with the federal anti-kickback statute, federal self-referral act, civil monetary penalties law, transactional work, antitrust, physician employment contracting, Medicare billing regulations applicable to physician practices, managed care contracting, HIPAA, and the Texas Medical Records Privacy Act.
- Experience with clinical trials from the provider side a plus.
- Extremely organized with a strong sense of priority, urgency, and commitment to deadlines
- Ability to manage a heavy workload, prioritize multiple projects, exhibit exacting attention to detail, and strictly observe confidentiality
- Driven and self-motivated
- Ability to work independently and function well in a team environment
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
