Position Summary

The Associate Director, Procurement Contract Management oversees all aspects of contract management, stakeholder engagement, risk management, contract strategy development, training, and team leadership. Lead the entire contract lifecycle, from initial negotiations to execution and renewal, ensuring compliance with university policies and legal requirements while fostering positive relationships with key suppliers. Lead strategic negotiations to secure favorable contract terms, establish supplier selection criteria, and promote collaboration to drive innovation and mutual benefits. Act as the primary liaison for university departments and leadership, conducting needs assessments to align procurement strategies with institutional goals and engaging stakeholders in decision-making processes. Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework, identifying and mitigating potential risks associated with procurement contracts. Regularly collaborates with university leadership to develop procurement strategies that enhance efficiency, cost savings, and compliance while providing training programs to enhance staff capabilities and knowledge. As a leader of the Contract Management department, inspire and motivate a team, fostering a positive and inclusive culture while setting clear performance expectations and facilitating professional growth. Manage staffing levels and optimize resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency.


Qualifications

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Law, Procurement, or a related field

Preferred Education:
Master's Degree in Business Administration or Law degree

Required Experience:
10+ years of experience in contract management, procurement, or a related field, including leading a team. Experience in contract negotiation and administration with demonstrated experience negotiating multi-million dollar contracts across multiple commodities and specialized goods and services, including technology. Experience in optimizing contract management processes and associated software. Experience in developing, implementing, and optimizing procedures and processes.

Preferred Experience:
7+ years Leading contract management activities in a highly decentralized environment, encompassing complex categories such as facilities, R&D, services, and technology. Experience establishing and maintaining a comprehensive risk management framework for procurement contract activities, ensuring alignment with an organization's policies and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated expertise in leading the strategic negotiations of high-value, strategic long-term contracts with Fortune 1000 vendors, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Experience developing and implementing strategies to engage stakeholders in procurement decision-making processes, promoting transparency and inclusivity. Experience in managing multi-national agreements that facilitate the delivery of services or goods across diverse geographies. Experience designing and implementing training programs to foster continuous improvement.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with a proven track record in managing complex contracts and negotiations. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, complemented by excellent written and verbal communication skills that effectively convey goals, strategies, and direction. Highly organized with the ability to meet critical deadlines while working independently in a fast-paced environment. Proficient in managing multiple tasks and responsibilities, adept at navigating changing priorities without compromising effectiveness. Expertise in contract management software and related tools, with a demonstrated ability to handle diverse and complex categories, including facilities, services, and information technology, on a global scale. Proven capacity to make sound business decisions, applying logical thinking and exercising sound judgment. In-depth knowledge of contract law, procurement regulations, and best practices, along with expertise in crafting and interpreting key performance measures. Comprehensive understanding of the entire contract administration process, ensuring efficient and effective management of contractual projects.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with Jaggaer (SciQuest contract director tool) or comparable system.


Additional Information

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $130,000.00 to USD $170,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
