Position Highlights |
The Center for Applied Transportation Sciences (CATS) in the College of Engineering is seeking motivated applicants to fill a Project Management Assistant II position.
The successful applicant will collaborate with the Director of the CATS Center to oversee the tracking and maintenance of technical project data. The incumbent should have skills in SQL programming languages, and data visualization to assist with system and project upkeep. We are seeking a well-rounded, motivated and enthusiastic individual who is detailed-oriented, conscientious, and has the ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner orally and in writing. CATS is a college-level research center established at the University of Arizona (UArizona) founded in 2021. CATS' mission is to serve as a research, training, and capacity-building resource for regional governments, educational institutions, and private sectors in the field of Smart Communities. The research areas include but are not limited to Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO), transportation system performance management, and Mobility on Demand (MOD). Duties & Responsibilities |
Project Tracking and Updating:
- Coordinate and monitor projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to schedules and plans.
- Generate weekly reports for the projects and technical support as required.
- Update project information in the database using SQL scripting.
- Update website content and assist with developing of new content.
- Visualize project-related data to support the inspection.
Administrative:
- Maintain project documentation, including updates, status reports, and meeting minutes.
- Organize and manage project folders for easy access and reference.
Event and Meeting Organization:
- Coordinate workshops and presentations, including planning and executing timelines.
- Ensure event venues are well-prepared for seamless execution.
- Arrange and organize project meetings including developing agendas and taking meeting notes.
Supply and Information Coordination:
- Assist with maintaining the Center's IT inventory and supplies.
- Ensure that project information displayed on the TV wall remains current and accurate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of project management methodologies including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Ability to problem solve and make decisions.
- Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication, excellent grammar, composition, and proofreading.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
- Ability to communicate with a diverse student and faculty population.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience using R/Python or other programming languages.
- Experience with SQL scripting to update and maintain project information within databases.
- Experience working in a university, educational, or process-oriented environment.
