THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will attend classroom training and receive on-the-job training to develop the necessary skill set to provide non-professional direct nursing care to mentally and physically ill patients. You will educate, encourage, and assist patients in all activities of daily living. Other duties include carrying out daily individualized patient treatment plans, providing routine physical care to patients, positioning patients while utilizing approved lifting techniques, escorting patients on and off hospital grounds, responding to emergencies, acting as a patient advocate, and other related duties.

Work Hours and Additional Information:

  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Work hours during training are 1st shift, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Work hours after training are 3rd shift, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM
    • Rotating on and off days including weekends and holidays.
    • Overtime as needed.
    • May change based on operational needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    • No previous experience needed, training provided.

    Other Requirements:
    • You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency.
    • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:
    • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and drug screening.
    • You must pass a background investigation.
    • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
      • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
