We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Maintenance Supervisor - Instrument & Analyzer within our La Porte VCM Plant located in La Porte, TX.

Essential Job Duties:

The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing instrument and analyzer systems in a safe, environmentally acceptable, productive, and economical way, while at the same time, minimizing production down time at the LaPorte VCM facility.

Supervises maintenance workers who perform maintenance service and repairs in the areas of analyzers and instrumentation servicing to the OxyChem LaPorte VCM facility.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the instrument and analyzer fields. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complex tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Key responsibilities of an Instrument/Analyzer Supervisor include:



  • Maintains protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
  • Provides attention to detail, and dedication to work to ensure reliability of the work site as well as high quality product.
  • Ensures that yourself and others are respected, supported, and encouraged to grow and succeed in their job.
  • Ensures that department employees are focused on Process Safety and Risk Management objectives.
  • Reinforces employee OxyChem Chemical Commandment training and awareness on a routine basis. Incorporates lessons learned into toolbox topics.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with production, engineering, and other maintenance groups to assure timely and efficient repairs are performed daily and during plant outages.
  • Assigns jobs and provides field supervision for maintenance technicians on daily work activities as well as plant outages through the maintenance excellence program.
  • Works with planners and operations personnel to plan jobs through the maintenance excellence program making sure that all work orders are processed from a notification all the way through to the completion stage.
  • Helps process supervisors maintain their operations budgets by communicating the cost of maintenance materials, repaired equipment, and new equipment charged to their areas.
  • Works with process and maintenance engineers to assist them on daily activities and any projects that they may be needing assistance from the maintenance technicians.
  • Support the maintenance department on issues such as time and labor, documentation of MOC's for review and signatures, making sure the maintenance technicians are accounted for on monthly meetings and training.
  • Assists the capital group for long term projects they may be working on or any projects that they may be having ongoing issues with.
  • Leads and coaches the maintenance technicians to assure that their expectations are met to be successful at their position.
  • Provides communications to the maintenance technicians on safety and environmental expectations, operating and maintenance issues and general plant communication.
  • Participates and conducts yearly evaluations for hourly employees.
  • Participates in the design and implementation of equipment and process improvements, material of construction improvements and efficiency and cost control improvements.
  • Specifies repair parts and materials and ensures that all repairs meet applicable engineering standards, jurisdictional codes and plant policies.
  • Actively supports and participates in programs to continually improve plant operations using quality tools.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ten plus years role related practical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment which includes a good working knowledge of equipment, materials, techniques, and safeguards
  • Working knowledge of Routine Maintenance Program (RMP), regulations, and policies
  • High level of safety and environmental awareness and commitment - Working knowledge of SAP
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively lead a team
  • Physical requirements - Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
