POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Sr. Payroll Specialist will process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls using UKG Pro for salaried and hourly employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Audit employee time and labor data and interact with supervisors as required to verify hours and resolve discrepancies.
  • Approve bi-weekly timesheets and PTO request to build time import file for payroll in UTM.
  • Process bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls in a multi-state corporate environment. Validate shift differentials and other pay based on assigned shifts.
  • Ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, social security contributions, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments and other deductions of employee paychecks.
  • Assist with balancing of payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Research and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.
  • Accurately processes garnishments and communicates garnishment information to all parties.
  • Lead year-end payroll processes
  • Responsible for tax allocations for employees with secondary work locations
  • Lead on payroll training initiatives, including presentation development
  • Responsible for monitoring, completing and responding to department shared e-mail box.
  • Liaison with UKG regarding payroll and UTM system issues and cases.
  • Run various payroll reports from UKG Pro, including some BI/People Analytics.
  • Special projects as assigned.



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:



  • A minimum of five (5) years payroll processing experience as Administrator or Analyst and CPP certification preferred. Prefer experience in large, multi-state environment.
  • A minimum of an associate degree or bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
  • Must have experience with UKG Pro Payroll (formerly known as UltiPro). Experience with UKG Time Management (UTM) preferred.
  • Prefer experience with Canada or global payroll processing.
  • Proven ability to complete work accurately, independently, and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Strong and proven customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills across departments as well as with external partners.



SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:



  • Required intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Knowledge of UKG Pro (Formerly known as UltiPro).
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
