The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for strategy and implementation of DataBank's procurement function focusing on data center components such as generators, transformers, chillers and switchgear. The Strategic Sourcing Manager leads and implements the process and policy for all applicable material and equipment needed to deliver the final product to our customers across our data center portfolio. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will partner closely with the construction and procurement teams to ensure a unified and proactive procurement approach. Primary responsibility includes strategic vision and implementation, vendor relationship management, procurement of electrical and mechanical data center equipment, escalation management, quarterly reviews with vendors, ongoing operational tracking, and process improvement. The Strategic Sourcing Manager reports directly to the Senior Director Construction Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's construction procurement process and policy.
  • Lead development of bid packages for scope including statement of work, KPIs, pricing matrix, and to facilitate RFP activity including RFP development, transmitting to invited suppliers, facilitating site tours, and coordinating answers to supplier questions.
  • Leads evaluation of quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of services and equipment.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with critical suppliers.
  • Consistently navigates current and future market conditions, leading procurement strategy for construction equipment.
  • Compare proposals for price and specifications, negotiate with suppliers to reduce costs.
  • Review existing contracts with suppliers to ensure on-going feasibility.
  • Leads the purchase order approval process.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with critical suppliers.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure advantageous terms.
  • Evaluate quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of services and equipment.
  • Track and manage the company's owner furnished electrical and mechanical equipment stocking program at a detailed, tactical level.
  • Develop and lead executive reporting as applicable for scope.
  • Partner with the Procurement Coordinator and Procurement Manager to deliver unified procurement approach across portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with over 10 years of experience in Construction. Management or Procurement, or a master's degree in engineering or supply chain with at least 5 years of experience in Project Management, Supply Chain, or Operations. Equivalent experience is also considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years data center experience.
  • Experience with procuring data center electrical and mechanical equipment at large scale.
  • 3-5 years' experience in-depth knowledge of data centers, contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
  • In-depth knowledge of contracts, invoicing, and negotiation terms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and the flexibility to handle multiple competing priorities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical & presentation skills (Excel & PowerPoint expertise required).
  • Problem solver with a strong analytical mindset.
  • Excellent customer service and negotiating skills.
  • Experience using MRP ERP software and tools, Procore experience preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access).
  • Growth mindset.
