OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR THERAPIST (PRN)

Laurel Heights Hospital is a 112-bed facility located in Atlanta Ga. We are dedicated to providing youth with compassionate mental health treatment that encourages self-responsibility and personal growth. We provide psychiatric treatment to children and adolescents that present with a broad range of psychiatric, behavioral disorders and autism. A clinically skilled multidisciplinary team works to partner with the youth and family to accomplish their goals in a supportive and therapeutic environment.

Our THERAPISTS must:

  • Be fully licensed in Georgia with a Master's degree in mental health/social services/counseling field to work with females/males, age range from 6-17 who are developmentally delayed, diagnosed with ASD and experiencing significant psychiatric and behavioral symptoms.
  • Plan and administers therapeutic treatment, behavior modification, and stress management therapy to assist residents in developing/displaying appropriate behaviors Changes method and degree of therapy when indicated by resident reactions/needs
  • Discuss progress toward goals with residents or families of residents such as medication regiment, family relationships, educational programs, social development, discharge plans or other behavioral problems.
  • Consult with psychologists/psychiatrists or other specialists concerning treatment plans and amends plans as required.
  • Maintain regular contact with other agencies/professionals regarding client progress in the therapeutic treatment program through phone calls, letters, and/or monthly reporting.
  • Develop and implement appropriate discharge planning with resident, family, and placing agency.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationship with external customers, families and residents and employees.
  • Have the ability to assess treatment goals and write goal-directed, individualized treatment plans, as well as the ability to monitor and document individual behavior patterns and modify treatment plans to meet changing treatment goals.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the therapeutic process and commitment to help the youth achieve their treatment goals. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage difficult client discussions.
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors and outside agencies. Ability to work independently and in a group setting.
  • Proven track record of reliability and consistency of high performance.
  • Strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Exhibits an exemplary work ethic by being highly organized, detailed and thorough.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License in state of residency.

Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Counseling/Therapy/Social Work or related field.

Licensure/Certification: Licensed in Georgia with LAPC, LPC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, or eligible to obtain license within 6 months of employment. Successful completion of New Hire Orientation (CPR certification, age-specific training, and the current patient aggression management training). Employee must have a valid Georgia Driver's License
