The Cancer Center of Kansas (CCK) is seeking a full-time, CT Technologist, with a desire to receive additional on-the-job training in Nuclear Medicine to join our team in our Wichita, KS office.

The successful candidate will benefit from joining a team of 7 well established CT, MRI, and Nuclear Medicine Technologists well versed in day-to-day operations as well high quality patient care. What does this position entail?

Under general supervision, this role is responsible for the coordination and administration of radiologic exams. The role is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging scans for diagnostic purposes, ensuring patient safety, comfort, and the accurate acquisition of imaging data for evaluation by physicians and radiologists. The role assures compliance with appropriate regulatory agencies related to diagnostic imaging, patient and employee safety, and supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. This role takes collaboration amongst coworker and other departments, as well as providers.


Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position are:

  • Performs radiologic procedures as ordered by providers, achieving a high level of quality.
  • Offers expertise to physicians regarding appropriateness of additional/modified studies, etc.
  • Escorts patients during imaging exams; assists with dressings as necessary; injects patients with contrast or isotopes for applicable exams.
  • Completes all paperwork necessary to ensure timely delivery imaging services and results utilizing an EMR.
  • Develops and processes radiologic films.
  • Logs radiologic procedures completed within an EMR system.
  • Processes routine paperwork related to radiologic exams.
  • Provides protection for patient and self in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Ensures the safety and physical comfort of the patient while in technologists care.
  • Conducts daily quality control measures to monitor machine performance. Reports all malfunctions and/or need for adjustments to the proper company or facility.
  • Arranges preventive maintenance as recommended.
  • Follows prescribed safety standards in operating equipment.
  • Orders, logs, and returns outside films requested from other agencies; completes appropriate documentation.
  • Arranges for the release of films to patients and outside agencies.
  • Maintains confidentially of all information related to patients and medical staff.
  • Cross-trains on other departmental functions as directed or needed.
  • Completes other duties as reasonably requested.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will have the following qualifications:

Education/Training:

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school. Previous experience as a CT Technologist preferred. Previous experience in intravenous access preferred.
  • CPR certifications required.

Experience:

  • Must have excellent communication skills, written and verbal.

Lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Lifts and pushes patients in wheelchairs/stretchers weighing up to 300 pounds and places in appropriate positions for operation of equipment. Requires ability to reach above shoulder height. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
