Position Highlights

Arizona Arts Live is seeking an Assistant Production Manager. The Assistant Production Manager will coordinate with show production representatives or artists to execute terms of contract and makes arrangements for staging, staffing, rental equipment, and special effects. The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for leading production crews in the execution of such arrangements and maintaining theater equipment for Centennial Hall and Arizona Arts Live.

Work schedule is determined by production schedule, varying from week to week. Hours will include nights, weekends, and occasional remote work. Valid driver's license is required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates with show production representatives, artists, and other University departments to execute terms of contract and makes arrangements for staging, staffing, rental equipment, and special effects.
  • Collaborates with show production representatives or artists to ensure that all terms of contracts are fulfilled.
  • Maintains accurate records related to events, including contracts, schedules, and production notes, and assist with reporting as needed.
  • Coordinates and participates in the execution of the setup of the stage, audio, video, and lighting systems; coordinates the design of and/or designs theatrical implementation of said systems.
  • Assists with logistical needs related to events, including setup, teardown, and any special requirements specified by the production.
  • Maintains accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and any issues encountered during productions.
  • Responsible for the inventory and maintenance of theatrical equipment. Recommends the purchase of new or replacement equipment; orders and obtains materials for production.
  • Performs safety checks on equipment and facilities ensuring safety guidelines are being met.
  • Ensures that all activities comply with university policies, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Addresses any issues or challenges that arise related to the technical requirements and work to find effective solutions.
  • Reviews proposed contract technical riders and makes recommendations regarding feasibility, schedule, and budget.
  • Assesses the feasibility of the requirements based on the available resources, equipment, and venue capabilities.
  • Prepares detailed recommendations regarding the viability of the requested technical elements, including any adjustments needed to meet the requirements.
  • Monitors expenses related to the implementation of technical requirements and ensure that they stay within the approved budget.
  • The
    individual will be in charge of equipment which includes the transportation and
    purchasing (and picking up which will require driving.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

- Knowledge of technical theater best practices in lighting, audio, video, and rigging
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Skilled in soldering
- Skilled in QLab, Vectorworks, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to communicate professionally in written and verbal situations

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree OR equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience is required, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
