Performs standard and complex EEG Recordings under minimal direction and/or serves as senior technologist with a responsibility for work assignment and in-service training instruction of junior personnel. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Performs all diagnostic Electroencephalographic procedures within assigned areas.
    • 1.1 Performs Electroencephalograms in a prompt and professional manner as observed by upervisor, staff and patient feedback.
  • 2. Reviews all necessary documentation to perform diagnostic procedures.
    • 2.1 Reviews all Electroencephalogram consults for information or special instructions as observed by Neurologist, medical staff and supervisor.
  • 3. Performs preventative visual and manual inspections for each Electroencephalographic room/equipment assigned, ensuring appropriate maintenance and cleanliness.
    • 3.1 Performs daily room/equipment inspection. Report all necessary problems to appropriate individual as indicated by random review of equipment log.
  • 4. Provides training to ancillary personnel as required.
    • 4.1 Willingly and conscientiously provides instruction to ancillary personnel as assigned and observed by supervisor and feedback from staff.
  • 5. Assumes in charge position in the absence of supervisor personnel as required.
    • 5.1 Performs a variety of non-technical and technical procedures, exercising appropriate judgement as noted by feedback from staff and physicians.
  • 6. Types all applicable information into the computer system.
    • 6.1 Types all demographic patient information from the consult into department computer according to computer program and department protocol, with no more than five errors per year as observed by the supervisor.
  • 7. Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
    • 7.1 Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor.
  • 8. 8. Completes non-therapeutic functions under the direction of MD, PA, APRN or RN.
    • 8.1 7 .1 Immediately deliver the medication(s) from the pneumatic tube system to the appropriate Registered Nurse, Physician, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner. 7 .2 As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, remove IV solutions from the patient care area's clean utility room and immediately deliver to the appropriate licensed practitioner. 7 .3 As directed by a Registered Nurse, Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant or other appropriate licensed practitioner, stock IV solutions in the patient care area's clean utility room. 7 .4

Qualifications

EDUCATION

High School diploma or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

Traineeship of the duration of one year, followed by not less than one year of full time experience in an EEG Laboratory following; completion of one year of college or university with emphasis on physical or biological science or High school graduate with emphasis on physical or biological science.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. They may frequently be required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell. They may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
