Summary of Need:

As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will care for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome and Cerebral palsy. You would be involved in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN).

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer medications and injections.
  • Perform tube feedings.
  • Hang IVs
  • Collect blood samples, if certified for venipuncture.
  • Provide colostomy care.
  • Observe patients and report changes in their condition.
  • Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure.
  • Obtain specimens for analysis and perform other medical procedures as ordered by a physician.
  • Prepare and apply simple dressings.
  • Bathe and feed; and care for people and their homes by performing such tasks as making beds, changing linen, lifting and moving people and caring for their personal effects.



Qualifications:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
  • At least 1-year current experience working in long-term care or hospital setting. The ideal candidate will have experience working with the developmentally disabled patients.


  • Highly motivated, independent thinker and self-starter.
  • Enthusiastic team player.


  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple projects. Strong follow-up and communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills. (Word processing, office scheduling, familiar with Windows).



Hours: 8 to 12 hours shifts available. To be discussed more at interview.

Mostly Evenings, and Nights available, but will consider Day shift as well.

Every other weekend, with some holidays.

Locations: Scottsville, Newark, Dansville, and Wayland.

Length of Assignment: Up to 2 years.
