I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates a basic, functional knowledge of counseling skills, has a fundamental understanding of addiction and mental health issues in adolescents and can conduct a mental status exam, biopsychosocial assessment and request for psychiatric consultation.
2. Possesses significant understanding of gender specific interventions and understands concepts of culturally competent practice.
3. Writes treatment plans, progress notes, evaluations and letters in a clear and concise manner, and completes paperwork within required time limits.
4. Develops a strong working rapport with clients, superiors, and peers and participates as a multidisciplinary team member.
5. Maintains the highest standards of ethics and demonstrates professional attitude and conduct. 6. Conducts client evaluations including crisis evaluation, biopsychosocial assessment, diagnostic formulation and initial treatment recommendations.
7. Facilitates psycho-ed and rehabilitation groups using standard group techniques.
8. Meet with clients for individual counseling to assist in attaining treatment goals.
9. Provide families with family' therapy.
10. Write treatment plans including client's strengths with behaviorally based goals and objectives with input of appropriate family members.
11. Document progress of goals and objectives in progress notes.
12. Obtains initial and subsequent insurance authorizations, as needed.
13. Is an active participant in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
14. Recognizes and seeks consultation as needed.
15. Develops an individual training/supervision plan to enhance professional growth.
16. Refers clients to appropriate resources within and outside CHL.
17. Follows all policies and procedures of the agency.
18. Work assigned hours, which may include rotation of weekends and evening hours.

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Master's degree in a clinical course of study in behavioral health (social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, counseling or related field) that meet the academic requirements for independent licensure in psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or mental health counseling in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
2. Requires licensure as LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or is actively working towards licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
3. Grade 8: Clinician IV: Masters degree in a clinical course of study (social work, psychology, counseling or related field) and LICSW licensure ot licensed Psychologist
4. Must be able to pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Background Check) and a DCF/CPS (Department of Families Adam Walsh/Child Protective Services background check)

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Department-specific competencies and their measurements will be developed and maintained in the individual departments. The competencies will be maintained and attached to the departmental job description. Responsible managers will review competencies with position incumbents.
