Job Description

We are looking for a proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset and excellent follow-through to join our growing team!

The successful candidate will effectively deliver an uninterrupted supply of purchased electronics materials to support assembly lines at Nidec's Motion & Drives facilities across North America, removing any blockers encountered along the way with creative problem-solving skills. Using excellent communication skills, the individual will collaborate with multiple operations teams across North America to understand their priorities and needs for electronic components.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Create Materials Requirement Planning analysis with raw data from multiple data sources to determine purchase quantities to be delivered on time.
  • Place purchase orders with suppliers and contract manufacturers to secure production material as required by forecast and the production schedule at each facility.
  • Monitor status of open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery of all materials, including timely resolution, communication, and mitigation of future potential problems.
  • Communicate priorities and schedule changes to vendors and contract manufacturers as needed to support changes in production requirements or priority level, expediting or deferring orders as necessary
  • Work with contract manufacturers to streamline their production plans, ensuring our priorities are being met by their plan, proactively communicating any challenges to meeting each facility's priorities back to the appropriate contact at that facility.
  • Monitor Nidec owned inventory consumption levels at our contract manufacturers, project future monthly consumption amounts and coordinate with Accounting timely invoicing of Nidec owned inventory consumption.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales and operations to produce accurate and timely supplier forecast.
  • Determine and establish optimal inventory levels based on forecast, demand variation, and material lead times.
  • Coordinate material flows throughout product/BOM changes, obsolescence, and the introduction of new suppliers and/or materials due to new product development
  • Communicates Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to the suppliers and reviews disposition of existing and in-process inventory.
  • Manage the inter-company flow of materials between warehouse locations, as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and provide a high level of customer service, including recommending solutions, resources, and alternative supply options.
  • Resolution of on-hold invoices to ensure timely payment.
  • As needed, help to facilitate new supplier set-up process, ensuring supplier master data is accurate in the system.
  • Ensure and promote compliance to Company and Procurement policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • 2 years or more experience sourcing materials or products, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Electronics Assembly Manufacturing and the engineering design process preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Experience using various ERP systems (Oracle, Fourth Shift, etc.) a plus
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skillset is required (Vlookups, Pivot Tables, IF Functions, etc.)
  • Experience using Microsoft Power BI (or similar tool) to link various data sources and create visual representations of data is preferred
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) is required, proficiency in Spanish is preferred
