THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Public Utility Auditor Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising Financial Audit Division staff in the Western Region engaged in performing financial audits and reviews of utility companies. The person in this position will have overall responsibility for the conduct of multiple field audits and the review of adjustment clause rate filings. Utility audits may be conducted throughout the state and may require travel (including overnight travel).

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supervises the preparation, review, and analysis of financial information and the preparation of workpapers and audit reports to assure compliance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assigns, supervises, and participates in the review and analysis of all annual, quarterly, monthly, and interim adjustment clause filings for conformity to the utility's tariff, Commission orders, and general policies and procedures.
  • Utilizes accounting and auditing expertise and provides technical guidance and education to the audit staff regarding state and federal regulations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • You must be able to secure reliable transportation.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. You will be required to report to the headquarters worksite daily, unless eligibility requirements have been met and telework has been approved by the Bureau Director. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pittsburgh.
    • To be eligible to participate in telework, the employee's alternate (telework) worksite must be within a reasonable travel distance and within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Public Utility Auditor 3 or Management Efficiency Review Auditor 2; or
  • Four years of professional auditing experience which includes one year of lead work experience; and a bachelor's degree including or supplemented by a minimum of eighteen credits in accounting and an additional six credits in accounting, finance, auditing, or a closely-related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training including or supplemented by eighteen credits in accounting and an additional six credits in accounting, finance, auditing, or a closely-related field; and one year of lead work experience in professional auditing.
