The primary purpose of this position is direct supervision of The GIANT Company's professional truck drivers while on duty. This position allows for direct engagement with the transportation team to ensure the successful delivery of product to stores. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Exercises full supervisory responsibility including directing daily work routines and insuring adherence to all company directives * Administers corrective or disciplinary action as needed * Continually monitors ongoing operations to include solving routing and scheduling issues, making dynamic changes in routes and driver assignments to respond to emergencies, reporting accidents/injuries, insuring on time delivery to stores, inspecting equipment, and directing repairs or maintenance * In summary, supervises all departmental functions while on duty * Utilization of CAMS, Manhattan, and Samsara to fulfill the above detailed responsibilities * Perform any other job duties as assigned by the transportation management team QUALIFICATIONS Experience (Minimum Needed): * Must be authorized to work in the U.S. * Must be able to communicate and understand company policies and safety regulations to complete job duties in a satisfactory manner * Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base scores for this position, with or without reasonable accommodation * Must meet the company performance standards for the job including but not limited to regular attendance. * Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job * Customer-oriented attitude * Interpersonal skills * Self-starter with demonstrated ability to show initiative * Organizational skills with an eye for detail * Ability to comprehend and perform basic math * Experience in the transportation field to include outbound/Inbound scheduling experience * Knowledge of DOT regulations, routing systems, and Electronic Logging Systems * Strong leadership, teamwork, problem solving, and communication skills * Ability to read and understand maps of the geographic areas serviced * Problem Solving skills to determine assignment of available equipment needed for deliveries * Ability to Counsel and discipline drivers who do not meet productivity standards * Ability to reasonably organize backhauls and a routing schedule PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position is performed in an office environment with prolonged periods of being seated typing on a keyboard and viewing a computer screen. Finger dexterity for keyboard use, sitting and standing as job requires Shift Hours: Minimum 8-hour shifts or more depending upon business needs * Job Cycles: Continual Max * Lift/carry: 25 lbs. * Stand 15%, Sit 70%, Walk 15% * Category IV: Lifting, carrying, P/P up to 25 lbs. * Max Pull static: 20 lbs.
