The Center for Simulation and Innovation (CSI) at the College of Medicine-Phoenix invites highly skilled applicants to apply for a CSI Coordinator position. The successful candidate will be a primary contact for the Center, and provide excellent simulation implementation and relational support to faculty, students, colleagues, leadership, and community partners. The Center is a multi-disciplinary experiential learning center that mirrors in-hospital acute care settings. It is one of the largest and most advanced medical simulation centers housed within a university in the United States. Duties & Responsibilities |
Simulation Event Logistics (Planning, Communications, Setup, Running Events, Re-set):
- Provide timely and accurate team and event planning, preparation, organization, implementation (setting and reset) of simulation lab rooms, equipment, technology, supplies and other resources for scheduled simulation events. Manage, create, and edit detailed set up and assignment tools for each event with colleagues, staff, faculty, and clients, often leading and delegating staff assignments
- Support participants in use and best practices of simulation equipment.
- Provides an appropriate orientation to simulators and task trainers in the clinical simulation learning environment. Quality assure all event details are ready and on time.
- Organize and conduct CSI tours and events for participants of all educational levels. Present and guide participants through simulation stations, demonstrating and explaining use and value of simulation in experiential, hands-on and engaging manner. May also provide same as initial training to prospective and onboarding staff and faculty.
- Works closely with clinical leads and faculty to assure quality and effectiveness.
- Order, track, manage, and maintains equipment and supply levels, including event kits and code cart resources using CSI's inventory control system.
- Identify and submit order requests for low inventory items on a regular basis.
Simulation and Live Event Support:
- Lead implementation and conduct tours, training videos, and various community and pipeline events at the Center.
- May act as Event or Shift Lead, coordinating same with other assigned staff and faculty as primary point of contact.
- Maintain current knowledge on the use, operation, troubleshooting, and best practices of varied simulation equipment, applications and supplies used in the Sim Center.
- Responsible for training and explaining equipment and technology to various event participants, including faculty, as needed.
- Serve as Simulation Operator and sometimes Interprofessional Presence, running simulations and equipment behind the glass and in the room, at the direction of faculty/instructors and staff.
- Assure simulation equipment, kits, and supplies are in place, and in good working condition, tested and ready for use prior to the start of all simulations.
Relationship Management:
- Primary Point of contact on key CSI relationships include those with faculty, student, colleagues, leadership, community partners and campus guests.
- Stay educated and informed, able to professionally represent CSI and the College on elements that may affect campus events and team responsibilities.
- Provide departmental coverage (primary and secondary) to greet and direct clients and students, supporting a wide variety of courses and clientele that utilize CSI.
- May be assigned specific courses, clients, or events for whom more complex end-to-end event scheduling and management may be required.
Business Operations Support:
- Lead, facilitate, and participate in team and College of Medicine meetings to plan, coordinate, confirm, and secure resources and details for every event held in the Center. Create and update related documentation prior and subsequent to each meeting.
- Provide scheduling and event leadership support and logistics for implementation of events in support of all team members (full time and hourly staff, faculty, students, clients, etc.). This includes daily and weekly event assignments to ensure complete support and cross-coverage. Post event and staffing schedules on CSI systems to recruit, track and staff events as needed. Update related tracking to inform staff, faculty, and budgeting by event. Adjust event data post-event to assure data and tracking accuracy.
- Precept new and experienced staff in implementation activities and provide direction and assignments to staff when scheduled. Provide appropriate feedback, mentoring, documentation and related communication and recommendations to assure peer and event success.
- Support staff, students, and faculty in day-to-day activities as needed. This can include flexible work hours on events that occasionally require before or after-hours support to assure successful outcomes.
- Create and update policies and procedures, event tracking, and other elements that assure timely and excellent client and departmental support.
- Support the Center, Academic Affairs, and other University departments as needed in supplementary roles to ensure timely and clear teaming, communications, event success, and ongoing management with all stakeholders.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently lifts and
carries up to 50 pounds (i.e. Manikin, task trainers and supply boxes). - Frequently bends/stoops, pushes/pulls, walks, and
twists.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and
written communications. Skilled at presenting to large and small groups. - Able to work
independently with moderate guidance, following best practices and solving problems creatively by drawing on prior work experiences. - Skilled in developing
and maintaining good working relationships and communications with students, faculty, staff, external clients, management and leadership. - Advanced knowledge of
hardware and software computers and applications relevant to academics and simulation function. - Proficient in web-based
computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite, GoogleDocs, Box, Zoom, etc.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Clinical experience in health care delivery and/or health education.
- Experience working with different types of medical equipment.
- Experienced and comfortable presenting to small groups, teaching, and leading meetings.
- Experience working, organizing, and running events.
